Here's some highlight of our recent Augmented Reality Photo Exhibition for USAID Impact Book Launch graced by Tanzania Deputy minister for agriculture, Hon. Anthony Peter Mavunde.
A good story creates a personal connection, takes you on a journey and most importantly, inspires action.
The tools of storytelling have evolved over time. We went from the spoken word to books to movies to enhancing our reality with AR (Augmented Reality). The immersive character of Augmented Reality makes it the perfect vehicle to tell your story in 3D and have your audience dive into it.

The VR for GBV hackathon by .kreimer

is today.

The hackathon has brought together GBV Stakeholders from Tanzania  and East Africa (organization founders/ representatives) to brainstorm and crowdsource ideas on how VR technology can be incorporated in GBV work (in awareness raising, interventions or helping victims deal with trauma).

Tanzania comms team and partners.

OnaStories facilitated a communications workshop for UNHCR comms team and partners equipping them with fundamental communication skills that are vital to the dynamic world of digital communication as well as traditional media, so as to better communicate the impact of their refugee protection work.

and are new, exciting formats for journalism and storytelling. Great stories on these new mediums are built on the same narrative foundations of storytelling everywhere. (1) Treat your audience as king, (2) Walk them through a clear narrative arc, (3) Show, rather than tell, (4) Make them feel!, (5) Pack action, tension and change... Now, different mediums call for different considerations. For example, spoke of VR’s triple power punch of agency, presence and immersion. You’ll have to consider these factors when telling a VR story - since VR heightens them - but the principles you’ll use to tell a great story in are the same you’d use elsewhere. -

We are not just storytellers, we also provide media training to equip your communication team with skills to compete in a world with ever-increasing digital platforms.

OnaStories, facilitated a workshop which was held in Kigoma region, that aimed at equipping UNHCR Communication/PI staff as well as Protection and Program Officers in the field with fundamental communication skills in relation to the current world of digital communication as well as traditional media platforms so as to better communicate with impact UNHCR’s work.

This year we wrapped a 10 part visual storytelling series with United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) The task was to document the scale, impact and value of their work and capture the human lives transformed by their interventions. One of our favourites is Kazi Women group ,who with the help of UNCDF partnered with fish processing plant Petro and Sons in Kigoma,Tanzania.
