MVEANS SHINE AT AMERICAN FIELD SERVICES (AFS) NATIONAL CONFERENCE

It is a proud moment for MV International School as a delegation comprising Harshpreet Kour (Class 9, r/o Vijaypur), Ridhima Sambyal (Class 11, r/o Samba), and Teacher Incharge Marvi Slathia participated in the 6th National Meet of American Field Services (AFS) member schools. The event was hosted by Sanjay Ghodawat International School, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and witnessed the participation of nearly 150 students and educators from 62 renowned schools across India and abroad. This year’s theme, “Dare to Change – Be a Change maker,” set the tone for the conference, which celebrated India's rich cultural diversity and inspired participants to embrace transformation. MV International School was the sole representative from District Samba and Jammu, marking a significant achievement for the institution.

The event commenced with a grand opening ceremony, featuring a vibrant flag march, traditional dance performances from various states, and engaging ice-breaking sessions. One of the standout activities was the “Worli Art” team-building exercise, which encouraged creativity and collaboration among participants. MV International School students represented the Jammu Zone, showcasing the Dogri culture and heritage through an impressive cultural stall. Highlights included Basoli paintings, depictions of Jammu's famous temples, traditional Dogri attire, and a taste of Jammu’s culinary delights, such as the iconic Patisa sweet. The delegation's presentation received widespread appreciation from attendees, as students eloquently explained their exhibits and shared the vibrancy of Jammu and Kashmir. The event also featured enlightening keynote addresses by dignitaries, including: Deepak Vohra, Former Ambassador of India to Poland, Jayant Lal, Director of AFS India Board, Gaurang Das, Priest of ISKCON Temple, and Dilip Kulkarni, Environmentalist. A special music therapy session by Dr. Roshan Mansukhani added a therapeutic touch to the conference.

The conference was further enriched by cultural stalls representing various states of India, where MV International School students stood out for their passionate representation of Jammu and Kashmir’s heritage. They also formed bonds with international students from Thailand, Germany, and Japan, emphasizing the importance of global understanding and cultural exchange. Participants explored the historical and spiritual richness of the region through excursions to Kaneri Math, Panhala Fort, and the Mahalaxmi Temple, gaining deeper insights into India’s cultural heritage. The School is proud of its delegation for their outstanding representation and spirited participation. Their involvement in the AFS National Meet has broadened their horizons and deepened their appreciation of India’s diversity while fostering a global perspective. This remarkable experience reflects MV International School’s commitment to nurturing change makers who embody cultural pride and global citizenship.

CBSE Centre of Excellence (COE) Chandigarh organised an intensive two-day Training of Trainers Certification Course at MV International School , bringing together Principals, Vice Principals, Headmistresses, and teachers from CBSE schools across the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. This prestigious event saw the participation of 71 educators, who, upon certification, shall contribute to training initiatives in their respective regions, impacting the broader educational landscape. The program was a collaborative effort with the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), New Delhi.
