Cork City FC confirm that Jaden Umeh has signed for Benfica.

The 16 year-old has made 15 appearances for City this season, scoring twice, and has decided to join Benfica after turning down the club’s offer of a professional contract. The move will see Cork City receive training compensation from Benfica under FIFA compensation regulations, with further future benefits based on the player’s progression.

Imagine if the government helped the sport out from grassroots the way up what we can do at international level for both mens and Womens football, the sport is starved for developing, it's crying our for infrastructure. Maybe one day. But great to see the banter between club fans 🇮🇪⚽️
