We thought that given the current state of affairs we could all do with a lil' live music fix, so we're dropping a brand spankin' new live session next week!

Any idea who it could be?

Stay tuned for some red hot 🔥🔥

Hey fam! We hope you're keeping safe in lockdown! Here's another one of our sessions with Girls Rock Adelaide, featuring the absolutely lush sounds of Keeskea! We hope this can tide you over until gigs return again.

Stay tuned for more live sessions in the near future 🔥

Much love from the team at Sunny Side 🍳

Hello Sunny Side fam - it’s been a hot minute! 🔥
After working our butts off in 2020, we needed a lil’ (long) break. Alas, all good things must come to return, and there’s just too much bloody good local music to share with you… so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, Girls Rock Adelaide have just dropped the first video in a series we collaborated on - this one featuring the utterly delightful Nancy Bates. Keep your eyes peeled for more in the coming weeks 🍳

Can't wait to see your gorgeous faces for a desert jangle party ft. thematically appropriate weather (but there'll be air con, we promise) 🌵💀☀️

25/11/2020

We’re ending our 2020 season with a bang this Friday night, featuring desert-jangle maestros, Los Palms! If you’ve seen them before, you’ll know you’re in for a treat (and if you haven’t, we’re telling you now - check out their ripper tune Six Broke Teens below). We had a chat with the gang this week about what inspires their unique, shimmering sound:

“We just wanted to create a vibe – an experience based around desert, surf, pop, Chilean coke and pool parties in the 60s,” frontman Ant explains. “We’re often told that our music has a ‘Tarantino vibe’, so now when I’m asked what style of music we play, I say: ‘Any of you fu***ng pricks move, I'll execute every motherf**kin' last one of ya!’ People seem to be creating their own stories around our songs, and Tino seems to be directing it. So… thank you Mr Tarantino.”

We’re also excited to share that the five-piece are currently working on a full-length album, with plans to tour (when that's a thing again). “And who knows,” Ant adds. “We might even shake some songs with our friends in the States. Maybe Tarantino wants to put a party on for us or something? Who knows… we just wanna play music, and invite you all to join us!”

And on that note, there are still a handful of tickets left to this very limited capacity gig. Grab yours here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/130207603447

Josh is good at a lot of things. One of them is being a boss producer. Another is making this really nice lockdown video about his favourite Sunny Side performances so far.

Featuring: Venice Queens / Naomi Keyte / Ricky Albeck & the Belair Line Band

Please enjoy this video of our marketing manager-slash-producer Timothea fumbling through an introduction of her three favourite Sunny Side sets of 2020. The gin helped (thank you Prohibition Liquor Co) 😂

Featuring: Seabass / The Empty Threats / Alana Jagt

A nostalgic treat for your last night of lockdown! Sit back and enjoy as our director/producer Ben gets on the other side of the camera and introduces his favourite Sunny Side sets of the year.

Featuring: Ryan Martin John / Electric Fields Music / DRUID FLUIDS

20/11/2020

The state lockdown might be cancelled, but Sunny Side’s lockdown sessions are GO! We’ll be releasing a short series showcasing our crew’s favourite moments of the year, starting with our host with the most [indoor plants], Ed.

Featuring: The Sea Thieves, Attonbitus, Kitchen Witch

18/11/2020

Remember that time South Australia locked down and we live-streamed an audience-less gig with Aidan J Jones? Just one very talented musician and a crew of four nervous producers quietly wondering if this thing would actually work.

Here’s our favourite track from that very first set, to keep you company on your first night of lockdown. If you’re missing live music, don’t forget you can watch back all 30+ of our sets from this year via our Facebook or YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/sunnysideuploads

As this strangeness unfolds in South Australia (again), we’ll do our best to keep y’all entertained where possible. Stay home and be safe!

Book now for Sunny Side Uploads presents: Mum Friends at The Jade this Sunday! Spots are limited, so get those booties into gear and grab your tickets for what's going to be a ripper gig.

Despite the restrictions that have played havoc with the music community in 2020, Mum Friends have had a HUGE year, playing an impressive stack of shows and releasing debut single ‘Rails’.

With plans to get stuck into recording soon for an early 2021 release, we can safely assume that the indie powerhouse are gonna approach next year with just as much pedal-to-the-metal energy!

We’re over the moon to announce that we’re up for a SAM Award for Best Innovation! It’s fun reflecting on the fact that our first crew photo was taken with us standing 1.5m apart, and here we are a couple of weeks ago, huddled cozily and COVID-free in a booth at Cry Baby celebrating our latest project.

BIG thank you to everyone who has supported us on this wild ride, and in the meantime, we’re looking forward to celebrating Adelaide’s talented, resilient and all-round bloody brilliant music community at the awards next month. We love you ❤️

In celebration of Wear it Purple Day for gender diverse and LGBTQIA+ young people, we’re proud to present this third and final release in our series with Electric Fields Music! One of the first songs the duo wrote together, ‘Shade Away’ encourages us to stand proud and brush past negative energy - to “throw the shade away”.

Wear It Purple shares the same message: “You have the right to be proud of who you are. Who you love and how you define yourself does not change that.” The not-for-profit strives to raise awareness and create a world that is safe for all young people. If you’d like to learn more about how you can support their incredible work, head to their website: https://www.wearitpurple.org/

Make sure you visit our YouTube to catch the full Electric Fields series in collaboration with Repeater, captured live at Ukaria Cultural Centre. And in the meantime, let those rainbow flags fly 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Our second session with Electric Fields Music - premiering now via YouTube!

Sung in Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and English, ‘Inma’ is inspired by vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding’s childhood memories of learning traditional dance from his grandmothers and grandfathers. Check out this new release in this exclusive series, filmed at Ukaria Cultural Centre.

We’d like to thank Electric Fields, Alison and Kingsley from Ukaria Cultural Centre and Repeater for making this magic happen with us.

Sunny Side Uploads ADL - Live Streaming Gigs

We all miss gigs. That’s why Sunny Side Uploads are (responsibly) bringing Adelaide’s live music experience to you, in your own space.

Tune in at home to watch in high definition as your favourite bands stand 1.5 metres apart and play the sweet, sweet tunes we’ve all been missing. Grab a cool beverage, get comfy and stream live to your phone, laptop or TV screen. Got a projector? String up some fairy lights and project the heck out of it. Our music industry is under a great deal of pressure in the current climate. If you’re in a financial position that allows you to donate, we encourage our viewers to do so in order to support the music industry and the very good eggs in our local creative community. Information on how to donate coming soon.

Yours in isolation, The Sunny Side Uploads Crew x
