We are happy to welcome Maria Fröhlich as a new member of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award jury!

Maria Fröhlich is an illustrator, author, and comic book artist. She has written and illustrated the Ruby books, with the first part, Ruby & Lion, published in 2021. She made her U.S. debut with a comic adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s short story The Man Who Forgot Ray Bradbury in 2013. Maria is a member of the Swedish Academy for Children’s Books and a professional representative on the subject council at Konstfack, Sweden’s largest university for arts, crafts and design, where she is also a guest lecturer.

Notice: Extended library hours on Saturday & Sundays during exam times

The City of Johannesburg will open seven libraries from Saturday 18 May 2024 to Sunday 09 June 2024 between the hours of 09:00 - 17:00 on Saturdays and 09:00 - 15:00 on Sundays in an effort to help students prepare for examinations.

These are the libraries that are open for study purposes and reference services:
