As he hikes 900km to a small town in the Free State he'll be posting updates (live and otherwise) about what it's like to hike.
Schorr's latest novel A MAN OF THE ROAD, tells the story of Little Mikey, a boy who must one day head out onto the hitchhiking highway, and on his journey he meets characters from all levels of South African society, who collectively teach him what it is to be 'A Man Of The Road'.
The book is inspired by his own decades hitching Southern Africa and the world, learning that hitchhiking is about more than hitchhiking, it's about life itself.

“I’ve been hitch-hiking since the age of 14, and some time in my twenties I began to take notes when I was out there,” says Schorr. “I would force myself to sit on the side of the road, once a lift was complete, and write down everything I could remember about it. I have notes from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Australia, Germany and Egypt. I even have recordings of conversations, taken without my lift knowing, because knowing would change everything.”
“Hitch-hiking is potentially the thing in my life that’s shaped me the most, it’s a philosophy, a way of understanding the world for me,” he continues. “For years I’ve been thinking about how to present these notes, and I’ve finally found a format I’m happy with.”

In July of last year author and actor Milton Schorr (Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Die Byl, Die Sentrum) published his debut novel Strange Fish, which went on to win 'Best Novel' at the SA Independent Publisher Awards. In support of the work, Schorr set out on a country-wide tour of independent bookstores, art galleries, and even sitting rooms in people's homes.
At each evening he drew on his roots as a theatre director and actor to take the listener on a journey through his past, moving through a youth spent in heroin addiction, to years spent fishing the waters off the West Coast, and an experience of lost love leading to a decision, and the creation of the novel Strange Fish.
This April, Schorr presents his story in Gauteng.
