18th November 2023-Ayod county
More than 29 candidates who are preparing for their national exams on Monday are likely to miss their exams because of poor coordination between county education authorities, the teachers, and the parents of the children who are registered under Mogok Primary, Comboni Primary and Island Primary schools. The stakeholders regret that their children will not sit this upcoming exam because of the following unclear reasons;
Mogok Primary School has been registered by the general education institutions as a centre for schools like Pagil, Nornyang, Mogok, Island and Comboni primary schools. Their candidates can use it as the examination centre. However, the candidates were told by the county education director and deputy to sit in Mogok primary as it has been already confirmed as a centre in Jonglei State with its centre number #5036.
More than 29 candidates are going to miss their examination due to poor communication shared by the deputy county education director Gabriel Gatluak Jany who came to Mogok and publicly pronounced. The reason for giving them a holiday is that some of the candidates came from different areas such as Nornyang, Pagil, Kandak, Paguong, Wau, and Korwai with the exclusivity of Thoup and Pakuem which are nearer to the Mogok examination centre. Moreover, teachers from those mentioned schools have no means to call back the candidates due to no network coverage all over Ayod areas especially central and Northern Ayod.
Therefore, above mentioned reasons will cause our children to miss exams with a very simple issue which can be simplified locally here in Ayod. The reason for detaining examination papers in Ayod was a claim that the examination Box must not be opened twice which didn't satisfy us. If not, why does old Fangak supply four centres with exam papers? Fangak County has four centres.
A resident of Mogok told Phow News Network the situation is volatile in Mogok Payam as parents are concerned about this shocking news.
