It's time to reach for the starts once again...
Mythspace : Ignition will be published by Ablaze Publishing , and the team will be launching a Kickstarter campaign in March. Check out the awesome cover art from Koi Carreon and please consider llending us your support!
We’re thrilled to announce that Mythspace: Ignition has been acquired for publication by Ablaze Publishing – best known here for being the international publisher for Trese, but also home to titles such as The Cimmerian, Space Pirate Captain Harlock, and The Breaker.
When Ablaze approached us with an offer for an international release of the first volume of Mythspace, the team decided that this would be the perfect time to release the ideal version of these stories.
None of us do comics full time, and most comics released in the Philippines (before the rise of webcomics portals and the arrival of COVID) had to be finished in time for the big conventions (we love and miss you, physical Komikon and Komiket). We had to make a lot of compromises to balance the deadlines with our day jobs, and while we’re always going to be proud of what we accomplished, we also know that if we had enough time and resources, we could bring these stories to another level.
That’s where our upcoming Kickstarter campaign – and you, dear reader! – comes in.
While a lot has changed over the past ten years, some things remain the same. As much as we love creating in the Mythspace universe, we’d need a substantial amount of capital to be able to justify devoting most of our time to the remaster. While some work has already begun (have I mentioned we love creating Mythspace stories?) the amounts raised from the campaign will let us go all in, allowing us access to enough funds without having to worry about paying-out any advances or waiting on royalties. If we raise enough, we can also increase the page rate we are giving ourselves for the remaster, aside from providing other extra content.
Mythspace: Ignition will be a fully colored remaster of the original Mythspace Volume 1. The original anthology had 237 pages of art, and a substantial number of these pages are being redrawn, including much of the main story “Lift Off” illustrated by Koi Carreon. We’ll also be providing access to exclusive add-ons, as well as opening the possibility for extra Mythspace content if we go beyond our funding goals.
The Mythspace: Ignition Kickstarter will launch in March 2022. If you’d like to support us before the campaign starts, please help us spread the word. Please also watch out for the official press release from Ablaze, which should be coming very soon.
