Niger State ICT Hub.
Sooner than many might have envisaged possible, young software developers, coders, programmers, and sundry computer enthusiasts across Niger state will have a place to ply their talents, thanks to the newly constructed, tastefully furnished and finished Niger State Information and Communication Technology hub. This is a direct fruit of the efforts of Gov Abu Sani Bello.
A project which is donated to the state government solely by Zenith Bank Plc, has today passed as bold testimony that our stay in office as the Director-General (ICT) has not been a waste. How will we not show gratitude to the Almighty?
What is more! Successful completion of the project again motivated us to begin a process to make the ICT an autonomous agency in the state, a move which, thanks to staunch support of our state assembly members, has paid off, as Niger state will now have an agency mainly for IT activities.
The journey had started from a simple ideational suggestion to his Excellency, Gov Abu Sani Bello, which led to our constantly making trips to Zenith bank in consequence of the governor's approving directive that the state deserves an ICT hub, in consequence of which he personally parleyed and convinced zenith bank to construct same for the state.
I recall that upon his Excellency's directive that a suitable place be provided by the Ministry for Lands, the present permanent secretary of Ministry for lands, Dr Abdull Hussaini and I launched into a tireless and assiduous regime of work, which today became a clear success story, given prompt approval by then commissioner for Youth, Alh. Mamman Musa, that it should be situated in Abdullsalam Youth Center, Minna.
Let me extend my unreserved gratitude to his Excellency, Abu Lolo, for throwing his entire weight behind this project, a gesture which aided Zenith Bank's accepting to donate the centre to the state. My thankful gesture also goes to Zenith Bank for submitting to laudable call to make a worthwhile.
