The Nardò Ring is a 7.8-mile-long high-speed test track located in the heel of Italy’s “boot.” Originally built by Fiat in 1975, it is now operated by Porsche Engineering as the Nardò Technical Center.

The track’s unique circular design and banked lanes allow cars to reach “neutral speeds,” where the driver doesn’t need to turn the wheel, as if driving in a straight line. In Lane 1, this neutral speed is 62 mph, rising to 139 mph in Lane 4.

For those looking to push speeds beyond 139 mph, booking the entire track for an exclusive session is required. It was here that the Koenigsegg CCR set a world speed record of 242 mph, with the steering wheel held at a 30-degree angle.

The crew of STS-74 waves from the shuttle window in this iconic shot captured by the Mir Space Station. This rare perspective highlights the close cooperation between nations during the Shuttle–Mir program.

In November 1995, Space Shuttle Atlantis delivered the Mir Docking Module and solar arrays, allowing future dockings without relocating Mir’s Kristall module. It was a key step in enhancing the station’s capabilities and strengthening international collaboration.

During the three-day docking, Russian, Canadian, and American astronauts worked together to transfer supplies, install new equipment, and upgrade the station. A true milestone in space exploration and a symbol of what we can achieve together!

• Camel Trophy
The Camel Trophy, often referred to as “The Olympics of 4x4,” was an off-road competition held annually from 1980 to 2000. It became renowned for its use of Land Rover vehicles navigating some of the world’s most challenging terrains. The event was named after its main sponsor, the Camel cigarette brand.

Defying easy classification, the Camel Trophy was described by Iain Chapman, its Event Director for a decade, as follows: “Neither a race nor a rally, Camel Trophy was, above all, an adventurous expedition. While it included a competitive element, it was a test of 4x4 driving and mechanical skills, as well as endurance, courage, stamina, perseverance, and resilience against nature’s toughest challenges.”

The event prioritized human endurance and adaptability over pure competition. All participants were amateurs, open to anyone over the age of 21 from a participating nation—provided they did not hold a competition driving license or serve as full-time military personnel. The key requirements? Fitness, common sense, and an adventurous spirit.

Introducing the Aimé Leon Dore Porsche 993 Turbo. The bespoke model marks the fifth classic model restoration by with Porsche. The 993 Turbo features a custom Mulberry Green exterior, powerful twin-turbo powertrain, 993 Turbo S spoiler, and a dark brown leather and lambswool interior, complete with a custom brass Unisphere gear k**b.

It’s undoubtedly unique, but, in my opinion, it borders on being a bit flashy. And you, what do you think? Let me know!

• From road to sky: Porsche’s innovative spirit took flight with the PFM 3200, an aircraft engine born from the legendary 911 flat-six. Quietly earning its nickname as the ‘whispering engine,’ this marvel combined reliability, efficiency, and low fuel consumption—using just 13 liters per 100 kilometers in cruising mode.

Though it arrived at a challenging time for small aircraft markets, the PFM 3200 left an indelible mark on aviation history, setting new standards with its simplicity (just one operating lever!) and legendary performance.

A triumph of engineering, the PFM 3200 may not have achieved commercial success, but it continues to hold cult status among sports pilots, proving that Porsche’s commitment to innovation knows no boundaries.

From the Cessna 182 to record-breaking circumnavigations, this engine is more than a technological feat—it’s a legacy.

Rahal and co-driver Bob Garretson finished 2nd in the 1980 IMSA 5 Hour behind the 935 of John Fitzpatrick and Dick Barbour.
