DEPARTMENT OF ARABIC OF GDC SURANKOTE ORGANIZED ONE DAY NATIONAL WORKSHOP ENTITLED “THE PORTRAYAL OF MAHATMA GANDHI BY LITERATI OF MODERN ARABIC LITERATURE”

On 27th September 2023, Department of Arabic organized one day national workshop on the theme “The Portrayal Of Mahatma Gandhi By Literati Of Modern Arabic Literature” under the able guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr) Rani Mughal. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Mujeebur Rehman Center of Arabic and African Languages SSL & CS Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi, who acted as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker. The workshop was conducted in hybrid mode and was attended by a significant number of students, scholars and faculty members from various institutions across India. Prof. Mussarat Jabeen HOD Arabic conducted the proceedings of the workshop. She diligently managed all the sessions of the workshop within the stipulated time.

Dr. Syed Wajahat Hussain IQAC coordinator extended warm welcome to the esteemed chief guest and all others, on behalf of the college administration. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude to worthy Principal for supporting the initiatives of staff members to organize such kind of edifying activities for the students.
Pertinent to mention, the workshop was segregated into three sessions. The first session comprised of students paper presentations followed by Arabic Calligraphy competition in which Ms. Uzma Khatoon from PTU, Punjab, Ms. Shaista Baji & Mr. Ashiq Khalifa of GDC Surankote bagged 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions, respectively. The third session included extension talk by renowned academician Prof. (Dr.) Mujeebur Rehman of national repute from Center of Arabic and African Languages SSL & CS Jawahar Lal Nehru University. He focused his talk on the life, contributions and ideas of Mahatma Gandhi regarding universal brotherhood and peace with special reference to literati of Arabic language and literature. He made significant references from books, journals and research papers written by the Arabic authors of eminence that depicted his authority in modern Arabic literature that proved to be productive for the young learners of this institution.

Prof. Rani Mughal admired the scholarship of the keynote speaker and the way he portrayed the image of Mahatma Gandhi in Arabic Literature. She also made a comprehensive talk on teacher-learner relationship for the knowledge boost of the students. Besides taking part in extra-circular activities, she also instructed the young learners to attend their classes in time and on regular basis in order to meet the real purpose of education under NEP-2020. She also took a minute to appreciate the efforts of Dr. Mussarat Jabeen for the success of the National level workshop.

SKC GOVT. DEGREE COLLEGE POONCH CELEBRATES NSS DAY 2023

Poonch// The NSS Unit of Shri Krishan Chander Govt. Degree College Poonch celebrated NSS Day 2023 in the College Auditorium. S. Kamaljeet Singh Rtd. Professor was the Chief Guest and Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal of the college presided over the function. The programme was started by presenting bouquets to the chief guest and lighting of the traditional lamp followed by National Anthem. Dr. Zakir Hussain Kalis NSS Programme Officer presented the NSS Report and highlighted the activities carried out by the NSS Unit of the college.
On this occasion a colourful cultural programme was organised by the NSS Units of the college under the supervision of Dr. Zakir Hussain Kalis & Dr. Loveleen Kaur NSS Programme Officers. A large number of faculty members and students witnessed the programme. The audiences were enthralled by the comic skit, group songs and dance and Bhangra performance by the NSS Volunteers.
In the valedictory session the NSS unit of the college honoured the Chief Guest Prof. Kamaljeet Singh and Dr. Jasbir Singh by presenting momentous as token of remembrance. The NSS Best Volunteers, All Rounders, Captains and Vice-captains and other NSS Volunteers were also awarded with Momentous, trophies and appreciation certificates.
Dr. Jasbir Singh the Principal of the college in his presidential address appreciated the efforts and hard-work of the NSS Volunteers and Programme Officers. He also stated that the NSS and NCC are the two powerful pillars of the college. He stressed upon the NSS Unit to carry out all the activities with same spirit and enthusiasm in the days to come. He also assured them for all support and co-operation from his side. The programme ended with formal vote of thanks.

GDC Surankote Organised National Workshop on World Ozone Day.

On September 16, 2023 a National level Workshop on the occasion of “World Ozone Day” was organised by Institution’s Innovation Council, Government Degree College Surankote in collaboration with Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, UT of J&K. The event formally began with the traditional lamp lighting by the esteemed Chief Guest of the occasion Prof Zamir Ahmed Principal GDC Mandi, Guest of Honour Mr Jahangir Hussain Mir, Worthy Principal (Prof.) Dr. Rani Mughal, IQAC Coordinator Dr.Syed Wajahat Hussain and IIC President, Dr.Ashfaq Mughal .

The formal welcome address was presented by IQAC Coordinator Dr.Syed Wajahat Hussain followed by College tarana by NSS volunteers.

The introduction about the workshop and IIC was given by Dr. Mohammed Ashfaq Mughal IIC President. The Keynote speaker of the event was Prof. (Dr.) Sallahudin Qureshi, a renowned geographer and former Chairman Department of Geography AMU Aligarh followed by an invited talk deliberation by Prof.Sarshad Hussain HOD Zoology.
Besides students from the department of Geography exhibited a number of models and also presented their papers on the said topic on Ozone depletion.
A colourful Cultural programme was also organised by students on the very day to add colour to the day long workshop. The program witnessed an engrossing one hour key deliberation by Prof Salahudin Qureshi who made comprehensive address keeping in mind the level of the young learners of the institution right from the formation of ozone layer to the Islamic concept of 7 heavens and culminated with the remediation of the ozone layer. Later Mr 𝐉𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐫 Hussain Mir also highlighted the importance of Ozone and advised students to adopt the measures at the grassroot level to combat ozone layer thinning.
The Chief guest of the occasion Prof. Zamir Ahmed who happens to be a chemical scientist discussed about the chemical formulation to thinning of the ozone layer and the chemicals responsible for the same and ended his speech with a special focus to combat global warming and advised students to minimise the use of CFC’s and protect the environment. He also talked about the necessity of organising such programmes in the college and lauded Principal of the college for the success of the national level workshop.

The programme ended with presidential address given by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rani Mughal. She also appreciated the efforts of HOD Geography Dr AshfaqMughal and described him as not only an efficient teacher but an able and diligent president of the IIC. The program culminated with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Aafia Zaman. Pertinent to mention here is that the programme was sponsored by Innovation Council, Science and Technology Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir wherein students , staff and guests were served refreshments. Valedictory function witnessed a grand felicitation ceremony for the dignitaries and the students who had presented their papers and exhibited scientific models. The program was eloquently conducted by Prof Waseem Ul Haq HOD Physics.

Lastly a plantation drive was also held wherein worthy chief guest, guest of honour and principal of the college planted saplings in the newly created vandan vatika in the college campus. The species were provided free of cost by Mr Shoket Ali Kohli Volunteer/Life member Pir Panjal Environment and Eco Development Society J&K .

GDC Surankote organised awareness programme on “Nasha Mukt Bharat” Chief Guest SSP Poonch delivered the key address.

Anti-Drug abuse committee of the college in collaboration with NSS Unit organised a programme on “Nasha Mukt Bharat”. Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch Mr Vinay Kumar Sharma(JKPS) was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Mr Hamid Ali Bandey SDPO Surankote was the guest of honour. A large number of students including NSS volunteers and NCC cadets participated in the programme. SSP Poonch made a heart touching and thought provoking deliberation and stressed upon the need of a collaborative approach of educational institutions and police towards eradicating this menace from the society. The focus of his talk was also on the individual responsibility to be shouldered by the members of society and students at large to curb the menace. Sh Vinay Kumar Sharma enlightened the students with his personal experiences of dealing with drug addicts and drug mafia. He assured the gathering that district Poonch would the first drug free district in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the days to come. Later on an interactive session was also held at the end of his address wherein he responded to a number of queries made by the young learners of the institution and provided valuable insights. Besides this, NSS volunteers presented mesmerising college Tarana and a skit of relevance to the alarming rate of drug abuse in the society.

Earlier Dr Syed Wajahat Hussain IQAC Coordinator presented formal welcome address and introduced the key areas related to drug abuse. Dr Rani Mughal worthy Principal of the college delivered presidential address and thanked SSP Poonch for deliberating an engrossing address and also requested him to visit again for another discourse in the near future for the larger interest of the students. She appreciated SSP Mr Vinay Kumar Sharma’s captivating key address and one of the excerpts of his key address that the students have to be the change that they want to see in others.

The programme was conducted by Prof. Khaleeq Ahmed Qazi NSS programme officer and vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Fatima Convener College Anti-Drug Abuse Committee.

Furthermore the serene environment of the college made the chief guest necessitate some more time to Flag off the students rally holding placards regarding the burning issue and planted saplings of Citrus and cypress species in the premises of the college. Pertinent to mention that the species were provided free of cost by Mr Shoket Ali 𝑲𝑶𝑯𝑳𝑰 Life members/Volunteer of Pir Panjal Environment and Eco Development Society(J&K).

Aijaz Ahmed Khan condoles demise of Sarpanch Ghulam Nabi sb

REASI, JUNE 17, 2022: Apni Party Vice President Aijaz Ahmed Khan has condoled the demise of Sarpanch, Dugga Ghulam Nabi.

Expressing his sympathy with the bereaved family members, the former minister, Aijaz Ahmed Khan said that “The sudden demise of Ghulam Nabi sahab has saddened me. He went too early. I have worked in close association with him.”

He said that “His demise is a big loss to the people of Dugga. He was a dedicated leader who worked on the ground and won the confidence of the people with his work.”
