MY OPINION ON THE CABINET RESHUFFLE IN BRIEF

1. APPOINTMENT OF DR. ISMAILA CEESAY AS MINISTER OF INFORMATION

Dr. Ismaila’s Ceesay’s academic background makes him unfit to serve the capacity for which he’s appointed. Unless I’m proven wrong with empirical evidences, I want to state in strongest terms that Dr’s appointment will do no sustainable development in the information sector taking reference from his background. This doesn’t mean he cannot undertake any short-term developments. He will certainly do but such could only be to appease and please the God-father in State House. Arguably, Ceesay’s appointment is to compensate him for the nerve-wrecking disappointments and embarrassments he endured from the conscious population of the public, in his bid to entrench Barrow’s stay in power.

2. APPOINTMENT OF MOMODOU SABALLY AS PRESIDENTIAL ADVISER

In serious democracies, political advisers play significant role in providing directions with ethical considerations for the growth of the political leadership and the political community. Such advisers are virtuous, morally upright and ethical in the exercise of their functions. They do this by putting the interest of the political community above all with due consideration to the needs and wants of the people on whose behalf every political leadership is established to serve. Could Momodou Sabally function well in his appointed capacity? No! This is because Sabally has proven to lack mercy for ordinary Gambians and our daily economic struggles. He has become childish and assumed ‘parrot role’ praising every fortune and misfortune of our present political leadership. He’s busy imposing happiness on young people when he could simply tell truth to power on issues affecting Gambians especially young people . Ethical political advisers tell truth to power at all cost. Sabally we know does not have what it takes to do this. He will say this today, and tomorrow he will change to say that. He said Barrow was weak yesterday, but today he’s strong and a better leader just because he wines and dines with him. This means, all that were said yesterday were wrong. In light of this, a consistent, God-fearing, ethical and sympathetic political adviser would better fit for the position in order to guide the president to sail through this difficult economic crisis with honesty and integrity.

3. APPOINTMENT OF HAMAT BAH AS MINISTER OF LANDS

I want to believe President Adama Barrow did to make the needed consultations before appointing Hamat NK Bah to this new capacity. It is important to note that not only party-politics and ethnicity have potentials of indulging Gambians into violence, land as a natural resource has even greater potentials of causing regrettable conflicts in this country. In fact, evidences of communities, families and individuals fighting each other over land are widespread. Go to courts, there are many land cases! How can President Adama assign the responsibility of such a very important and delicate ministry to a minister who has corruption allegations over his head. This is the worst appointment Barrow made and is evidently very consequential because if minister Bah messes up, land conflicts will rise with serious implications on our social fabrics. Bah’s appointment should be reversed. Someone with rich and diverse understanding in local governance administration will better fit. With Amat Bah in this position, I predict more political push and pulls with local government administrators such as chairmen of Area Councils. Yankuba Darboe of BCC may predictably be one of them.

To be continued…

I think UDP stands a very strong chance of unseating Barrow in 2026, but in order to achieve this I also think the party must do something it has never done in its almost three decades of existence — change of flag-bearer.

And I think Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda is UDP’s rightful candidate in 2026. Apart from being young and vibrant, Talib also has his excellent track record at KMC to show that he not only has the gravitas for the presidency but the expertise as well.

Besides, Talib is UDP’s only answer to those who continually brand the party as a Mandinka party, for Talib isn’t your typical Mandinka fellow.

That Lawyer Darboe has sacrificed everything for UDP is not in question. From sacrificing a successful private practice in BasangSang Chambers to spending countless months in jail, Darboe has given his all to UDP and Gambia.

But like they say, every journey must come to an end someday, and I think the time has come for the baton to be passed, and UDP will not present a more electable candidate than Talib.

As with any political organization, it would be unrealistic to anticipate unanimous support within UDP for Talib's candidacy. However, ultimately, I would hope that the party's overarching goals would override any individual interest at the end of the day.

For you can take it or leave it — Talib is the winning candidate in 2026.

Islamic police in Nigeria's Kano state apprehended 11 Muslims for violating the Ramadan fast by eating, including a female groundnut vendor caught consuming her wares.

The arrests were prompted by tips from witnesses, with 10 men detained near markets. The individuals were later pardoned after promising to adhere to fasting rules, with their families urged to monitor their compliance.

Hisbah clarified that non-Muslims were exempt but would face repercussions if found selling food to fasting Muslims.

Good morning, Gambia!

Are you aware of the following:

~ Africell employees don't have a staff association to promote and safeguard their rights, interests, and welfare.

~ The majority of the Gambian employees at the Indian banana plantations in Fulladu West are working "under the table". Meaning they work for cash payment without paying taxes, social security or being part of the official payroll. They are exploited by their Indian bosses for commercial gain.

~ The majority of Gambian employees at Sat Inter-Trade Co.Ltd in Banjul are also working under the table. Some of the staff who are working there without any employment contract include Yerro Barry, Alpha Jallow, Momodou Cellou Bah, Baboucarr Fatty, Kebba Badjie, and many others.

The Gambia is the only country on earth that allows foreigners to subject citizens to modern slavery and worker exploitation. A former laborer at Soumi Gambia revealed to us: "At the banana plantation, if you make a small mistake sometimes you don't get paid for that day."

InshAllah, we will publish the names of all the companies that are exploiting their Gambian workers. If you have any information on the modern slavery in The Gambia, please send us a message on WhatsApp or Messenger. We will not reveal your identity!

Good morning, Gambia!

In Senegal, several Guinean nationals were arrested last week for selling ice cream that was prepared in an unhygienic environment.

The Senegalese Food Safety Authority found a large amount of filth in the vicinity of the ice cream production area. The facility was immediately closed and the Guineans are expected to appear in court for "poisoning" unsuspecting customers.

It's only The Gambia that allows non-compliance with food safety regulations. Food importers, who sell expired and substandard food products, are protected by senior government officials including ministers.

Do you remember when some people were arrested at a dumpsite in Banjul for reprocessing expired mayonnaise into oil?

The Food Safety and Quality Authority came out and said "We would like to assure the public that the Authority is working with stakeholders to trace the owner of these products and ascertain the reasons for the disposal and reprocessing."

Guess what happened to that case? It was brushed under the carpet. The importer of the expired mayonnaise is an Indian businessman who has many government officials on his payroll.

Please, try and visit an Alvihag supermarket. The foul odor in their supermarkets can send you to an early grave. They sell expired food, but the government is doing nothing to stop them.

How can a normal person support a government that is allowing foreign businessmen to continue poisoning their citizens to death for their own personal interests?

Gambia, wake up!!!

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐃 ✅

The Gambia will NOT play in the preliminary qualifiers for the AFCON 2025 this year after finishing above the last 8 in Africa in the new FIFA ranking published on February 15.

The Scorpions have escaped standing among the 8 lowest-ranked nations set to play the preliminaries next month.

A woman has sêx because she wants the man.

A man has sêx because he wants sêx.

Do you see the difference?

Sêx is a physical thing to a man.

But for a woman, sêx is both physical and emotional.

A woman can have sēx because of love. But a man can have sêx because of sêx.

Before a woman can have sêx with you, she must have feēlings for you. She must have that emotional attachment to you, Not talking about those trying there for Møney in the name of Hoøk up, Stop it. Heaven is watching ❤️🙏

That EROS dimension of love will be there.

Hārdly will you find a woman having sêx with a man she does not love? Except if she's a prøstitute.

But for a man, the reverse can be the case. A man may have no iota of love for you and still have sêx with you.

This is why a man can hire a prøstitute just to have sêx. He doesn't need to love the prøstitute before he fulfils his sèxual desire.

Now, understand this:

As a woman, a man can use you to feed his sexūal desires. He can even give you money. He can take you out. All because he wants sêx, not you!

If you want to know if a man truly loves you, don't give him sêx. Sit back and watch.

If he leaves you because you don't give him sêx, then he doesn't love you. He only loves sêx!

Dear young adult girl!

As you're growing up and getting closer to the journey of marriage life..pls try to understand that you can choose a husband for yourself but your kids can't choose their father, while choosing a father for them pls choose a father, a friend, a tutor, a prophet, and guidance for them...

And don't forget to be a good mother you can raise a hero and not a zero
A wedding ring is the smallest handcuff ever made, so think deeply, choose your prisøn mate carefully and sentence yourself wisely, to avoid prisøn break.

Good morning, Gambia!

The University of The Gambia has finally issued a statement on the findings and recommendations of the Fact-Finding Investigative Panel that was constituted to probe into the sex/money for grade scandal.

According to them:

~ 1 student collected his certificate but has returned it to management. His certificate will be officially recalled and revoked.

~ 10 students have already collected their attestations but not yet awarded their degree certificates. Their transcripts/attestations will be recalled and revoked.

~ 47 students will have their grades reversed to their original state.

~ 2 students were not found guilty because the alteration of their grades was authorized.

The "chief grade surgeon" Dr. John T Mendy has been dismissed and banned from taking employment in the university for 15 years.

************
Should What's On-Gambia also reveal their findings? Some of the students whose grades were altered are now senior civil servants and politicians - one of them is currently in the National Assembly.

Good morning, Gambia!

What are we going to do to recover the D300 million that was stolen from our coffers at the Gambia Ports Authority?

Auditor General Modou Ceesay is still sitting on the audit report that confirmed the massive theft at the Ports between 2020 -2022.

Billahi, the Barrow administration is a menace to society. They will go down in history as the worst and most corrupt government.

Gambia, wake up. Let's put our differences aside and unite against corruption. Whether you are a Mandinka, Fula, Wollof or Jola, we are all suffering severe hardship.

What should I do?

~ When I arrived in Europe in 2009, the first thing I did was I allocated a monthly allowance for my mum and told her to stop selling at the market.

~ During my first years in Europe, I managed to save over D3 million and wanted to buy a house from TAF. But my mum managed to convince me to develop her land in Lamin.

~ My first marriage lasted for six months. My mum alleged that my wife was sleeping with a Nigerian who was living in the compound.

~ My second marriage also ended after two months because my mum had issues with my wife.

~ I did not give up, I married a third wife. That marriage was also short-lived.

~ Last year, I decided to marry a fourth wife. My mum was against it, but after my uncles’ intervention, she agreed.

~ My mum also started having problems with my fourth wife. She wanted me to divorce her but I refused. I made it clear to her that I cannot be ending my marriages to please her.

~ She took my wife to court to evict her from the compound. I traveled to The Gambia to beg her to withdraw the case, but she refused.

~ Magistrate Fatoumatta Darboe -Jaguraga at the Brikama Magistrate Court sided with her and ordered that my wife should be evicted. They even handcuffed her in court to publicly humiliate her.

~ I tried to get the elders including three imams to mediate but to no avail. They threw out all my wife's belongings.

~ I decided to hire a lawyer to appeal against Magistrate Fatoumatta Darboe-Jaguraga's biased decision.

~ My wife now lives in an incomplete storey house that I am building in Lamin. Hopefully, I will complete the project before the end of the year.

~ My mum went back to Magistrate Fatoumatta Darboe-Jaguraga to assist her remove all my belongings from the compound. I heard police officers will be sent tomorrow to do that.
