Honoured to announce The Altar by Nkisi on Cortizona. Also the first cassette release on the label.
Out on June 21, available to pre order now:

As a continuation of her ethnographic sound archeology, decoding and recoding ancestral forms of rhythm and melody, The Altar EP emerges as an invisible sonic architecture, a temporary temple… Here sound emerges as consciousness, an entity influencing and changing its environments through emotional arousal. The Altar is a sacred dance between knowledge and secrecy, one of intonation, evocation, gestural and accented imagination.
Using the ancestral mind as a conceptual tool, we learn that it is not about what we know, but how we know it.

No time to waste so...
Thrilled to announce the pre-order of Cortizona 018:
BRAHJA - Watermelancholia
https://cortizona.bandcamp.com/album/watermelancholia
Releasedate: December 2.
First track 'Watermelancholia' available now
BRAHJA is the group formed by New York based musician Devin Brahja.
The moment the first bass note of Luke Stewart kicks in on ‘Watermelancholia’, followed by the swelling drum roll of Malick Koly and the lush leading voice of Janice Lowe you feel Devin Brahja will take you on a deep mind blowing spiritual journey.
Channeling seventies Impulse vibes or, could we say, even resonating the guts of early Art Ensemble of Chicago and the tempering spirit of Max Roach’s ‘We Insist’ era: BRAHJA is soul searching their spirit on ‘Watermelancholia.
A poetic stream of conciousness, backboned by topnotch musicians, transcending the cosmic universe, trying to find answers and musically connecting.
BRAHJA - Watermelancholia:
Devin B Waldman: compositions, mixing and production, alto saxophone & Jupiter-4 keyboard
James Brandon Lewis: tenor saxophone on songs 1, 2, 4 and 5
Janice Lowe: voice and flute on songs 1,2,3
Watson: bass clarinet on all
Heru Shabaka-Ra: trumpet on songs 1, 2 & 4
Damon Hankoff: piano on songs 1, 2, 3 & 4
Alexis Marcelo: piano on song 5
Luke Stewart:acoustic bass on song 1,2,3&5
Malick Koly: drums on songs 1, 2, 3 & 5

No time to waste: nine months after Tim Vanhamel released ‘Dubs Pour Oh La La’, his debut album under the moniker Comité Hypnotisé, the Millionaire frontman presents already the second album ‘Hiking The Trails Of Mount Muzak’. Vinyl available to pre-order now, out on April 1 on Cortizona. No joke!
On first single 'The Dragon Rider' the Comité rides an untamed dragon towards the scorching sun in search of a flame-bringing beat.

Thrilled and proud to announce Cortizona 011, a new record by Tim Vanhamel with a new moniker:
Comité Hypnotisé - Dubs Pour Oh La La
Not a lockdown record here: With 'Comité Hypnotisé' Tim Vanhamel tumbles into a
subsonic wormhole where smoked out dub glues with boogie funk and off-kiltered early hip hop vibes.
Transcending frequencies from an unknown galaxy channeled through a broken 70’s echo deck.
