That’s Good rounds things out by stripping things back a bit for a masterclass in minimalism. It’s simply drums and bass, with samples and mid-range growls tastefully interspersed.

Is Scurrow ok? 🧐

According to his parting shot on this EP; I Sit Very Weird When I Make Music he, well, sits weird and sciatica is no joke. Neither is the track itself, which is a full-bore excursion into 140 territory that manages to nail both the dub and the step parts. A right curveball of the best kind, it’s just a flat out weapon.

SLUGGY

Sluggy starts out slow, with low passed, subby kicks building into a no-frills, straightforward funky little number. It even has a super dope ghetto sample and some mid bass flair for good measure. What more could you want?

HYPOCRIT

Is it liquid? Is it jump up? Is it techstep? No, it’s Hypocrit, which artfully manages to be all of these and equally none of them at the same time. It comes correct with an almost samba-like rhythm interwoven with an infectious vocal sample, a pulsating bass riff and the kind of top end drum work that sounds insane in the club.

The collab with GZY provides just what you need. A spaced-out, yet aggressive, razor edged stepper that really understood the assignment. It’s still got a pinch of that funk too, as the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae.
