Est in 2007, Society Music Group (SMG) is our flagship label where we develop and distribute music artist and other labels. In 2007, Society Music Group started to becoming a major player in the orlando music community. Its first success was a joint venture with rakega records for their group called TREAL. The two labels put out the song called “Im Not Locked Down” which was one of central Florida
’s biggest hits playing on all the major radio station in regular rotation. The hit song lead to TREAL landing a major deal with Universal Republic. After the success with TREAL Society decided to move into a more commercial direction. They signed a group called 3AM. After Society working with them, in less than a year they were meeting with major label for the group which included major meetings with Jive, J records, Universal, and Def Jam. After entertaining a lot of great situations Society landed a major deal. But soon after the group broke up due to personal issues. After that Society signed another male group called Status BLAK. They have appeared on BET 106 and park, MTV making of the band with Day 26, won competitions and awards. In 2009 Society wanted to venture into other genres of Music. Being that the vision was always meant to be a company that was in all aspects of entertainment this was the next logical move. The CEO was ask by a friend to come check out a rock band that was playing at the House of Blues, One band called “The Shoreline” caught his eye. After they were done with their show the CEO approached them about signing to the label. After 3 months of negotiation the band signed a multi- album deal with Society Music Group. In 2010 they released their highly anticipated EP called ‘Fake it till you make it” at a sold out EP release party in March 2010 and has sold over 5,000 cds. They also had a distribution deal with HOT Topic (southeastern region) and Park Ave Cd in Orlando. It was also on Itune where they sold fast. They were on tour all summer and were on 4 dates on the Warped Tour. American Idol, ESPN and TV One all did publishing deal with the label for “The Shoreline” Music. In 2010 Society Music Group secured a label distribution deal with JMD/Universal Music Group. But this was not the vision of the company and a year in a half in the deal Society decided to walk away from it. In 2012 Society along with investors who believed in the vision secured a 1.5 million dollar investment to form its own distribution company. With the same outlets and connections that the majors have. We now have the ability to offer not only online distribution but physical distribution as well.
