সবসময় কি বাসার খাবারে মন ভরে? নিশ্চয়ই না। মন ভরাতে তাই গত শুক্রবার সপরিবারে ব্রেকফাস্ট করতে বেরিয়ে পড়লাম মিরপুর ১২ তে অবস্থিত আবেশ হোটেলে।

বছর পাঁচেক আগের কথা। KOLKATA ঘুরাঘুরি শেষে সেদিন ফিরবো ঢাকায়। পার্কস্ট্রীটে এপিজে হাউজে Oxford Book Store, Park Street, Kolkata স্টলের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে আছি বই ঘাটাঘাটি অপেক্ষায়। শীতের ঐ সাত সকালে বেলুন নিয়ে হাজির অজানা অচেনা শিশুটি। কিছু সরল হাসি বিনিময়ের পর নাম ঠিকানা বলে, নানা কথায় আমার নাম-ধামও জানতে চাইলো। আমি বাংলাদেশ থেকে, শুনে তার আবদার, কয়েকগুন বেড়ে গেলো। তার কাছ থেকে নাকি সবগুলো বেলুন কিনতে হবে। একটা বেলুন নেয়া যাবে না।

কিন্তু এই ফিরে যাওয়ার দিন এত্তো বেলুন নিয়ে কি করবো। একটাই নিতে পারি- এই কথা বলায় হাস্যজ্বল মুখে অনাবস্যা নামিয়ে চলে গেলো।

দু:সময়গুলোতে নিজেকে ভালো রাখার জন্য সুসময়ের ডালি সাজিয়ে কেউ আসবে না। বলবে না- এই নাও কিছু সুন্দর মূহুর্ত। সে দায়িত্ব নিজেকেই নিতে হবে। তাই আসুন, মাঝে মাঝে বেরিয়ে পড়ি। দূরে, কাছে, বনে-বাদাড়ে, কাছের কোন পার্কে হাটি অথবা দুই-দশ মাইল পরের কোন রিসোর্টে গিয়ে দোলনায় দুলি। কখনো কখনো পথ হারিয়েই নতুন পথ খুঁজে পাওয়া যায়। তেমনই স্বর্গ-স্পর্শী শান্ত - সবুজ পথ খুঁজে নিতে কখনও কখনও জীবনের জঞ্জাল ঘেরা পথ থেকেও হারিয়ে যেতে হয়। অবাক করা নতুনকে দেখে হয়ে যেতে হয় স্থবির, শুনতে হয় টিনের চালের উপর বৃষ্টির শব্দ। বুঝতে হয়- প্রকৃতিরও এক ভাষা আছে।

সে ভাষা থেকেই এক্সপ্লোর করতে পারি নতুনের স্বাদ। নিজের চেনা গণ্ডি থেকে বেরিয়ে গেলে তবেই না খুজে পাবো পুরনো 'আমি'র খোলসে নতুন 'আমি'কে। আসুন, ঘুরে বেড়াই।

The Significance of the Myth of CITY OF JOY is profoundly lying in its story, I found couple of times. Linke many of backpackers, I also couldn't ignore its unfettered enthusiasm for its culture, traditions, literature, history, food, people and nature. On my personal, medical, family visits, I found me amused seeing it's EPIC story, a city of urbanization carrying the tradition of 100s of years like a mellifluous blend. So far I traveled around the city, found every nook and corner is filled with stories, bound to mesmerise me.

Like a fairy tale, how history of people's habitat , cultural harmony explaining natural, religious, eco- social phenomenon is really a divine story. Ramzan, Eid, Durgapujaa, Diwali or Christmas revealed with its
Belief and Beauty. Traditional small Tea Cup , Kaathi Roll, Egg-chicken Chowmein with traditional sauce, Paav Bhaji are unique for mouth watering. Prinsep Ghat, Maaydaan, Fort William, Raajghat, Marqees Street, New Market, Park Street Jessore Road, Hawrah Bridge... each of places still stands out with herritage and green after decades.

Kolkata, an ethnic beauty... Kolkata, an amalgamation of new and old, as I told at start up, the perfect blend modernity and tradition... Kolkata, an emerging city towards progression with an amazing speed and motion without compromising its root connection.

Earlier I talked about Roadside tea makers. cup initiates like a story in theatre. Fires are stoked and fanned, spices crushed with added sugar , tea and milk poured from ever greater and more improbable heights. And the tea is served in a crudely formed clay cup. The dusty pink clay cup.

Its KOLKATA. The CITY of JOY, an EPIC CITY, indeed ..!

On my different trips, shots I captured in this vdo, travelling my series of KOLKATA visits, are not enough crafting her legacy. Just added here very few of Kolkata's beauty.
