DIVERSE HUMANITY is a website dedicated to a groundbreaking series of LGBTQ-themed photography books that seeks to reinvent the concept behind the landmark photography exhibition, “The Family of Man,” for the twenty-first century. Arguing for a more diverse and inclusive sense of who we are now, the books foreground a range of marginalized, frequently persecuted, communities that have challenged c

ommonly held definitions of family. Exploring human relations in all their rich complexity and bringing together an unrivaled group of world-renowned photographers, this photobook series—the first of its kind—focuses on the commonalities among various peoples and cultures in order to dismantle the very idea that the “other” is fundamentally different from us. The photobook series is the result of a unique collaboration between the Arcus Foundation, Emerson, Wajdowicz Studios, and The New Press.

The body remembers what is left unsaid. The traces of memory are written on the body. Read like a letter, followed like a map and listened to like a story heard from the past. Embedded on our flesh and in our blood. — Jenny
