INSTRUCTOR BIO: Alison Parker started her professional costuming career working in live theatre, and developing and maintaining costumes for the Cirque du Soleil. After her move to NYC, she shifted her focus to wardrobe for motion pictures and TV shows like Girls, NCIS New Orleans, and Stephen Soderbergh’s Mosaic, and feature films like Looper, I Am Legend, Emancipation, and The Highwaymen, costuming Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson.  Other celebrities she has worked alongside include Anne Hathaway, Sharon Stone, Kristen Stewart, Gerard Butler, Bruce Willis, John Leguizamo, Josh Brolin, Janelle Monae, and Charlize Theron.

However, after spending 20 years surrounded by the waste of fabrics and clothing, and finding a lack of sewing resources, Alison started the non-profit ricRACK, () a textile recycling and sewing non-profit.  Her time shifted from working in the entertainment industry to building ricRACK into an established New Orleans non-profit, with a creative reuse center, second-hand store selling movie and tv wardrobe, and community-based and in-house sewing classes for every age/skill.

When Alison and her husband are not working, they live on St. John, USVI, with their two cats, or travel on their sailboat, looking for new adventures.
