Only those with a virtuous heart can own an ever-smiling face. And only those who have cleared the weeds of pride from within will be able to face others pleasantly. Such are the people who can preserve a splendor of liveliness throughout their life. That’s why Prophet (PBUH) taught SMILE as the symbol of a Muslim. Prophet Ibrahim (AS) had supplicated to include him among those who return to Allah
with a sound heart (Qalbun Saleem) devoid of tarnishes and stains. Purity and tranquility of heart is the symbol of a Mu’min (believer) and is the secret behind a pleasant face. Do we often fail to perceive the psychological benefit of a SMILE? Our Beloved Prophet (PBUH) had perceived the meaning underlying a simple SMILE and the revolutions that can bring forth. Smile will blossom on such peoples’ faces who can accept others amiably. It’s when we realize that others too have their-own unique personality and greatness; we would be saved from the engrossment of pride and arrogance. We are meant to live a noble life - being humble and lowered even in the midst of admiring crowd, and taking the roads of simplicity – by refraining ourselves from the abyss of prejudices, entanglement of annihilating thoughts and from the weeds of pride.. A SMILE shining on our lips can open up the ways to greatness. Haven’t you heard this saying: “A smile costs nothing, but it gives much”!
