High School Football Team Preview: Germantown Red Devils

2023 Record: 12-1
Region Champs (7-0)
Head Coach: Gene Robinson

It was a tremendous run for Germantown last year.

They were one of the top teams in the state, starting off 12-0 before losing to rival Houston in the playoffs.

This season, new talent will be stepping into key positions.

Defending 6A State Champs

The Mustangs are back after a dominant playoff performance in 2023.

The outscored opponents 169-26 en route to winning the State Championship.

Several key players from that team are back.

Won Region Championship

A new era begins in Orange Mound as former players Gerald and Jarrett Morrow take over as co-head coaches.

The Golden Wildcats return top rusher Rhyan Brown and add top transfer and Missouri commit Jamarion Morrow from Germantown.

Melrose has their sights set high, believing this could be a special season.

High School Football Preview: Bartlett Panthers

Class 6A

Chris Smith enters his 2nd season as head coach of the Panthers.

Last year they finished 8-4, winning a first round playoff game on the road.

They return one of the state's top RB's in Mississippi State commit Geron Johnson.

On defense, LB Austin Howard is also committed to Mississippi State.

The Panthers return 7 starters on offense and 7 starters on defense.

They're ready for a good season.
