We are delighted to announce the winner of Landskrona Foto & Breadfield Dummy Award 2024: "Mazu," by Lin Wei-Lun.

Motivation:
Lin Wei-Lun's personal account of the tensions between Taiwan, China and the United States gives us a close insight into a complex conflict. By writing postcards to the sea goddess Mazu - who is regarded as the patron goddess of Taiwan as a whole - the artist ask for protection during a state of geopolitical instability.

Tourist postcards, with their beautiful topographical views of cities and landscapes, have been replaced by everyday situations and places. Instead of "I was there", the message is rather "Listen to us!".

Using small but powerful means, Lin Wei-Lun displays an ability to make us heed his call. Complicated issues such as national identity are conveyed here in a tender and cautious way. Wei-Lun waits for a response from Mazu, and everyone waits for peace and respect for both peoples.

Do you want to make a photobook? Have you made a dummy of your project? Apply for LANDSKRONA FOTO & BREADFIELD DUMMY AWARD 2024 and get the chance to have it published.

The prize includes all expenses for book production such as design, printing and distribution. The winner will be invited to Landskrona Foto Festival during the opening weekend 6-8 september 2024 to receive the award.

MC Coble & Louise Wolthers won The Swedish Photobook Award!!📙💐💥

Grattis .coble & vinnarna av Svenska Fotobokspriset! 🥳

Svenska Fotobokspriset 2024 tilldelas 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆 av den icke-binära trans*konstnären och fotografen MC Coble och konsthistorikern Louise Wolthers. Vinnarboken är ett dynamiskt montage över tid och rum, en demonstration i q***r tid, presenterad som en dagbok utan kronologi eller hierarki.

- Verket manifesterar bejakandet av ett tillstånd i ständig förändring, i en symbiotisk process som vänder och vrider på det q***ra. Det politiska möter på ett sömlöst sätt det personliga, där det mest sårbara korsbefruktas med det generellt existentiella. Dubbelheten avspeglas även i bokens form, med en innovativ struktur i kombination med grafisk illustration och text, som genomsyras av en brinnande strävan efter frigörelse. Läsningen blir ett intimt möte som visar hur vi kan bli modigare tillsammans, skriver juryn i sin motivering.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆 utgör en blandning av vinnarparets gemensamma bilder från över ett decennium, presenterat tillsammans med MC Cobles intensiva teckningar samt fem essäer av Louise Wolthers. Här speglas hur förändring, q***rt släktskap och icke-mänsklig anknytning kan se ut. Allt presenterat i en icke-linjär dagbok i en konstellation av ögonblick i livet som pågår här och nu. Ämnena kretsar kring den egna relationen, familjen, vänner och naturen. Det handlar också om förändring, könsaffirmerande transition och om utmaningar med klimakteriet.

«Är det då en sorg eller en befrielse, minnet? Ett fluffigt ting som innehållet i burken med raklödder som blivit kvarglömd här inne, som lämnar rostiga ringar på bordsskivan. När jag pressar ned munstycket sprider sig lukten av kemisk sommar och sjuttiotal i rummen till mitt barndomshem.

Fotoboken Daddy Cool handlar om min pappa, fastighetsmäklaren, men också om sökandet efter en metod att porträttera någon som stått mig nära, någon i den egna familjen.»
