Ride-share / taxi safety tips (featuring Bri’s doggos)If the Uber, Lyft, or Taxi driver makes you feel uncomfortable, get out in a familiar, general location so the driver can’t tell where your home or apartment unit actually is. If you are using an app to call a ride, you can activate a safety setting that checks if you’ve arrived safely. There are numerous other apps you can download to ensure your emergency contact can track your location or is messaged when you feel unsafe. Always be alert and trust your gut.
Ladies, what are some other things you do subconsciously to keep an eye out for yourself?

Tip #1: Trust your gut feeling
Tip #1: Trust your gut feeling. If anything looks too weird, there is a stranger idling, the place is too dark, there isn't enough traffic, etc. turn around and find a more populated path

Strongly recommend making your coffee at home
I used to go to dunkindonuts every morning for a $3.50 - $4.00 per cup of coffee then I got a $10 coffee maker from Walmart and now I just brew my coffee, pour it over ice with my creamer and bam, tastes just like dunkin.
As the social media gal, I wanted to chime in on this segment too. I love the taste of coffee and I’ve been mindful of trying not to rely on the caffeine. It is exhausting though to get up on those mornings to drive out for $5-$6 coffee and drive back home to work. I am that “sweet” coffee person like caramel macchiatos, starbucks’ white mochas, and dunkin oat milk caramel coffee. I’ve tried to brew coffee at home to save time and money, but the coffee always turns out too water-y or just straight up gross. If anyone has some #coffeetips I would greatly appreciate it!

“The cheapest way to be the most productive is learning how to cook yourself”I try to keep my individual meal costs between $3-$5 dollars because that is what you could get at McDonalds. Aside from being cheaper, cooking allowed me to eat healthier because I could control what went into it and allowed me to have more food than if I went out to a restaurant. That’s how I got into meal planning.
Kitchens need time & meal planning can help build them up. Start with the recipes you want to make and then build up your pantry from there. Don’t feel like you need to get everything at once because that will be super expensive #savemoney
Even though we recorded this as part of our summer series, we thought it would be nice to share Vivian’s warm cider recipe

Commuting to Work. Avoid at All Costs.
If you can avoid commuting, we'd strongly recommend it.
Little bit of a storytime - I was young and naive and decided to save money by taking public transport into work....took me 2 hours just one way. Never again.
Long Term Investment
"Even though the market has it's highs and lows on different days, you are trying to save for long-term investment. If you are going to put in [money] for a short amount of time and pull out really quick, thats when you can get burned because timing [the market] becomes really really hard." - Vivian, Entry Level Adulting
FOMO
"FOMO is definitely your worst enemy when you're trying to budget because you have to pick and choose your priorities" - Elizabeth, Entry Level Adulting
No Man is an Island
You are not alone and you are not expected to succeed on your own whether that is in your professional career or in your individual self. The stigma surrounding individuality and in order for you to succeed, you must do it on your own is a lie. There are so many resources out there - articles, role models, etc - you don't have to re-invent the wheel.
Seek a Mentor
You know the saying "knowledge is power?" It really is. You should be seeking out knowledge and getting those mentors. If you want to be driven in whatever you are seeking out (doesn't have to be part of your professional career), but you should be studying up! Learn from the people that came before you.
50-20-30 Rule
If you are struggling on where to start in creating your budget, the 50-30-20 rule is one of the best methods that can help you get started right away. Choose a month to review to figure out your monthly expenses, do not pick holiday months, but a month or two that can accurately represent your spending habits and categorize your expenses into Needs & Wants. Being able to understand how much of your income goes towards these expenses will help you become self-aware of your spending habits and help make budgeting easier towards your goals.
