"Soulful Sounds of Mystics"
Song: Jeewan Uska Baba...
Systematic discrimination and Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) constantly hinders women’s social, economic and political empowerment and is one of the most pervasive causes and consequences of the gender inequality. It is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. VAWG can be physical, sexual, psychological and economic abuse. It cuts across boundaries of age, race, culture, wealth and geography.
This song, with the support of “LISTEN: Leverage Women’s Rights in Social Transformation of Elected Nominees”, planned and implemented by Oxfam Pakistan’s Gender Justice EVAW Program, highlights the widespread problem of early child marriage in Pakistan. The audio-video song tells the story of a girl who was forced to marry an old man at an early age, she was the victim of systemic discrimination from an early age. The story shows how economic empowerment of women and girls can contribute to their empowerment and freedom of choice.

With a population of around 20 million, Pakistan is the world’s sixth most populous country. World Bank estimated the Pakistan’s infant mortality rate in 2014 -15 around 66 per 1,000 live births while maternal mortality stood at 178 per 100,000 live births. Pakistan’s varied landscape, diversity of culture, heterogeneity of social norms, poverty & illiteracy rates among provinces and regions make it even more challenging to improve the health indicators.

"RURAL WOMEN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT"
In a community where 82 percent of women are not involved in any kind of decision-making whether it is about the society they live in or their households, lack of women empowerment is glaringly obvious. 77 percent are unaware of their basic fundamental rights and 38 percent are suffering from malnutrition. It portrays a grim picture of women dis-empowerment. It also highlights the dire need of finding out ways to ensure financial freedom for women that may help them become self-sustainable and reclaim their self-esteem within the household as well as the community.
