June 16, 2022 - Ormoc City Division held the Year-end Academic Competition in partnership with the Local Government of Ormoc at OCCS.
The activity was participated by the champions representing the ten (10) districts of Ormoc City Division. Over 300 elementary and secondary learners actively participated in the activity.
In her talk during the program's opening ceremony, Dr. Marilyn Siao, Ormoc City SDS, lauded the efforts of the learners, coaches, schools, districts, and stakeholders for their continued commitment and support to attain meaningful learning.
"Your participation in this competition will give you more chances to learn and discover new strategies, new techniques and approaches for self-betterment", she conveyed.
Dr. Siao also stressed her gratitude to the Local Government of Ormoc headed by Mayor Richard Gomez for its immense support to the educational programs and projects of the city division.
Councilor incharge for Education, Atty. Nolito Quilang, who graced the activity, expressed his delight to witness the eagerness of the contestants to showcase their academic skills.
"The academic activities should also be active to balance the extra-curricular and the co-curricular", he voiced.
Atty. Quilang also challenged the participants to be a team worker and to take the academic competition as an opportunity to be exposed to further learning.
The contested areas in the Year-end Academic Competition were:
Grade 1-3: Spelling (MTB), Literacy (MTB), Numeracy (MTB), Spelling (Filipino), Literacy (Filipino), Spelling (English), and Literacy (English).
Grade 4-12: English Quiz Bee, Math Quiz Show, and Science Quiz Bee.
The top three (3) winners of the Year-end Academic Competition were awarded by cash prices:
1st Place - 5000 Php;
2nd Place - 3000 Php; and
3rd Place - 1000 Php,
medals, and certificates.
The medals, cash prices, and the snacks provided to the participants were all sponsored by the Local Government of Ormoc.
