Originally a Nautical Graduate at PMI way back 1998 but have difficulty in looking for a cadetship program anywhere at that time so he ended up as a Messman 2003 and surprisingly he loves the job. He learned Scandinavian cuisine on board. Eventually he enrolled at tesda to enhance his Culinary abilities and the rest is history.

His favorite dish would be Caldereta (Stew) it could be beef pork goat duck or chicken and prepares it with gusto. But of course it has to be different menu 7 days a week otherwise complaints will start to come which Ch. Cook Marlon tries to avoid. He just stretched out his patience as you cannot please everybody on board, He just varies his food preparation.

His advice to all Ch. Cooks out there?........Just be friendly to all.

AMN visited this serene place (Gethsemane ❤ / Matthew 26 v 36-45) last year, where Jesus prayed and was betrayed then arrested.
It's Near Mt of Olives ❤ (a place where Jesus ascended to heaven, same place he will return someday Zechariah 14:1-9)

Several olive trees in the garden were believed to be around 800 to 900 years old carbon dated.

The next day AMN also visited Tel Megiddo / Jezreel Valley 😎 as the bible says the place where vast armies and thier leaders will converge to attack someday and it's the beginning of armaggedon.
(Revelation 16:16-17)

When will it happen? Only God knows but there are lots of signs and one of them is when the Euphrates river dries up (Rev. 16 v 12) ❤

Mount of Beatitudes ( Sermon on the Mount) and Sea of Galilee is another place to visit. Lots of tilapya fish around enough for 5000 people .(John 6 v 1-14) ❤

Ch.Off. Noel started recently after few hit and miss business ventures, (farming - furniture) nothing worked. Then while watching the top 10 business in YouTube, the ICE maker vlogger - dealer caught Ch. Off. Noel’s interest. He began to study the pros and cons finally he and his wife decided to buy the ice maker machine (200K php) from Manila and installed the necessary electrical equipment, wirings (automatic voltage regulators) and water pipes / water tanks to supply his new planned venture. He even added solar panels in case of power outage.

In 15 days their ice maker machine arrived and after a few weeks of operation the ICE demand is overwhelming so he decided to buy another ICE machine maker to cope up with the demand. For 7 to 10 php per kilo and 2k daily sales the ROI was accomplished in 6 months. He plans to add another 2 machines to make 5 tons a day and supply all customers / restaurants around town.

When all goes well perhaps time will come to stop sailing and just be with the family forever. The most important thing is put God at the center of your life and nothing can go wrong. Pray for success in any business ventures you will go into.

2021 During pandemic while most of us have nothing to do around our house or place
Sir Junvic never wasted his time, instead after doing all those things for the family
He just goes to his man cave garage and spend time tinkering his car, cleaning, make small changes
replacing parts from here and there and even studied car detailing, anything just to make it in tiptop shape.

His hobby / passion eventually became a good business and with a small capital and prayers + approval from his pretty wife Tin ❤ (1.5M to 1.8M carwash, tire shop, detailing, with a coffee shop where you can relax while waiting) sir Junvic opened his first branch in front of Savanah Subdivision (Car wash and detailing). After a year he opened another branch this time aside from carwash he ventured into repairs, accessories installation, detailing, undercoating, acid rain cleaning, ceramic coating etc.

Electronics, automation of cars are also being installed / upgrade or modify here at Forte autoworkx like remote start / stop – Mobile control app – passive key entry – remote engine start / stop using KEYFOB – Lock/unlock using KEYFOB even the engine is running – anti theft function – auto open trunk sedan – tire pressure monitoring system, 360 degree camera + many more and 1-year warranty. These are the most popular accessories of today that the Filipino Sailors, Millennials or the Gen Z customers love to “must have” in their cars.

Don’t you worry because they won’t cut or splice any wires so your warranty is still good. Sir Junvic personally inspects every job to have the final say if it’s good to go but yet again there is no 100% trouble free. A few back jobs but that’s murphy’s law). This is why Sir Junvic shares his knowledge to his personnel / staff / service crew to avoid unnecessary complaints. Building trust is important Forte Autoworkx is transparent and aftersales is Important to them as the saying goes “customer is king”

Once a keyless entry is installed you can start or stop your car by using the keyfob as long as it is within blue tooth range. He adds that Forte Autoworkx is the only carshop in Western Visayas who installs this system.

Sir Junvic says they are open to franchising as a matter of fact for 180k PHP there is one Forte Autoworkx already operating in San Miguel Iloilo area. Interested parties have to see him personally due to the high standard / stringent criteria, operating procedures etc. Forte Autoworkx also repair dents due to collision and auto body works plus brand new tires and batteries.

And his advice to newly graduates or active sailors of today, if you have the opportunity to become a Master or Ch. Engineer as early on then go for it but you must have an exit strategy along the way remember “you cannot regain lost time away from your family in exchange of material things or money, life is too short to spend it away from your loved ones”
You must have the passion in whatever business you are planning to do in the future

Bay Number System

The bay-row-tier system is a numbering format for the arrangement of containers on a container vessel. In this numbering system, the bay is specified first, then the row (transverse stow direction) and finally the container tier, which runs from bottom to top.

According to this principle, bays are the container blocks in the fore and aft direction, rows are in the transverse direction and tiers are the vertical layers. A container bay is a container stowage compartment space that is numbered from forward to aft. The number of bays will depend on the size the size of the ship. Bays could be numbered from say 01 to 40 where Bay 01 is the first bay, forward while Bay 40 is the last one at the stern.

Odd numbered bays (1,3,5, etc.) will mean that it is a 20’ stow. An even numbered bay (2, 6, etc.) will mean that it is a 40’ stow. (note in this regard bays 1 & 3 combine to form bay 2, two twenty foot bays form one 40 foot bay, 5 & 7 will combine to form bay 6 and so on)

Rows and Tiers in Bay Number System
Rows indicate the position of the container in the transverse direction. Rows start from 00 at the centre if there are an odd number of rows while for an even number of rows the two centre rows will be 01 and 02. 01 and odd numbers then increase progressively (01, 03, 05) to starboard, while 02 and even numbers increase progressively to port (02, 04, 06 etc.)

Tier denotes at which level the container is placed – basically how high the container is stacked on board. Tier numbers start from 02 below deck and increase progressively by 2 (e.g. 02, 04, 06 etc.), while above deck it starts from 82 and increases progressively to 84, 86 etc.

Mini Donuts or Bite Size for short and from the word naughty, Doughty Donuts was born as Jan 😁 & Klarizza ❤ (husband and wife team) decided to bake and sell mini donuts online during their free time since Jan said they have to do something and have extra income when not sailing.

They’ve learned to make donuts online Feb 10 2024 and with a capital of around 10k they started the ball rolling. The first few customers are friends and family when they got the thumbs up results then they started to sell online which is great on a good day sales reached around 700php and not bad considering you can’t just pick up that amount on the streets looking at the sky.

This is a low risk business and big possibility of high ROI. If it works, then good but if not then it’s not going to hurt them
and perhaps try another but never stop till you achieve the dream you’ve been looking for.

Doughy Donuts taste is at par with most of the commercial donuts around but Jan’s’ product is a lot more affordable than the most popular brands.

For 15 pesos each 15 grams (premium and classic 10 pesos) Nobody can beat that price. Orders of 100 to 250 pcs needs 2 days’ in advance. Grab or lala move Will do the delivery minimum 25 pcs per box.

And his advice to the new or upcoming Filipino sailors, why wait for tomorrow if you can do it now. “remember we are only on a contractual basis after 6 months we are back to square one again so better think of something to make ends meet and it would be great if your partner in life has the same plans and dreams with you.

A big percentage of a sailor’s success is from our partner in life and our trust in God.”
