Mayor Indy Oaminal has launched a significant initiative aimed at improving the education of young Ozamiznons by distributing 183 55-inch Smart Television sets to all Grade 1 and 2 public school classrooms across the city. This project reflects the mayor's commitment to enhancing the quality of education in Ozamiz, addressing the learning gaps exacerbated by the pandemic.

Mayor Oaminal, after extensive consultations with the Department of Education (DepEd) and other stakeholders, identified that one of the critical challenges faced by young learners is the deficiency in reading skills and comprehension. Recognizing the limitations posed by the previous distance learning setup, the mayor emphasized the need for innovative solutions to bridge these gaps.

The provision of Smart TVs to classrooms was seen as a strategic move to enhance the learning experience for students. These devices enable teachers to present more reading materials efficiently, avoiding the time-consuming process of writing on the board. Additionally, Smart TVs provide access to a wealth of online resources, further enriching the learning environment.

In conjunction with this initiative, Mayor Oaminal also oversaw the ceremonial turnover of various Free Wi-Fi spots and infrastructure projects to public schools in the city. This ensures that students and teachers have the necessary tools to adapt to modern educational methods and improve overall academic performance.

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL PROVINCIAL BOARD URGES DOH TO ADDRESS UNIMPLEMENTED HOSPITAL LAWS

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Occidental has called on the Department of Health (DOH) to investigate the lack of implementation of crucial laws aimed at improving the Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro, Sr. Medical Center (MHARSMC). The appeal, made through Resolution No. 588-24, highlights the hospital's failure to meet the requirements of two significant legislative measures, leaving Misamisnons deprived of enhanced medical services.

The resolution points out that the MHARSMC has yet to comply with Republic Act No. 10865, enacted in 2016, which mandates an increase in the hospital's bed capacity from 150 to 500. The law was expected to be implemented within four years, but eight years later, the requirements remain unmet. Additionally, Republic Act No. 11563, passed in 2021 to further increase bed capacity to 1,000 and upgrade the hospital's facilities, also remains unfulfilled.

The Provincial Board expressed concern that the hospital's management has not utilized new infrastructure, including a completed 5-story building meant to accommodate additional patients. The unresolved issues have resulted in overcrowding, inadequate patient care, and multi-million-peso debts to suppliers.

The board emphasized that these laws, authored by former Congressman and now Governor Henry S. Oaminal, were designed to provide Misamisnons with world-class healthcare. However, the failure to implement these laws, coupled with mismanagement, has hindered progress, prompting the board to call for immediate DOH intervention to ensure the delivery of quality medical services to the province and the entire Region 10.

The daring robbery resulted in the theft of approximately P14 million worth of jewelry, further cementing the group's notorious reputation.

The Parojinog Robbery Group, known for its violent and high-profile crimes, has left a trail of fear across the country. Their latest heist targeted Macy Gold and DGC D’ Gold, where P10 million and P4 million worth of jewelry were stolen, respectively.

Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia praised the swift action of law enforcement, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of a key getaway vehicle. Police Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay of the Special Information Task Group emphasized that solid evidence has been gathered to ensure a strong case against the group.

Ozamiz City Mayor Atty. Indy Oaminal has announced the continuation of his monthly situational briefings with the city’s new Chief of Police, PLTCol. Harvey Abellanosa. The announcement was made through his official social media platform, where he emphasized the importance of these briefings in maintaining the city's peace and order.

This practice, which Mayor Oaminal started with the previous Chief of Police, PMaj. Dennis Tano, who now leads the Second District Police Mobile Force Command, has proven to be a crucial tool in the city's efforts to keep crime at bay. The mayor highlighted that these monthly briefings, along with the daily situational reports from the Chief of Police, provide him with a clear understanding of the city's current security landscape.
