𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐣𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧; 𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝟐 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬

A 13-year-old transformer at Alijis substation power in Bacolod City failed causing an unscheduled power interruption last night, August 21.

According to a Facebook post from Digicast Negros, almost two weeks of repair is needed to completely fix the issue.

Negros Power stressed that the feeders are only connected to close substations to supply power to consumers and an immediate power restoration will be processed once the power supply becomes stable.

Negros Power requests understanding from all impacted customers during this period of reconfiguration, assuring them of continued efforts to restore regular operations and provide a steady power supply while addressing the difficulties at Alijis Substation.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr., a significant and inspiring figure in Philippine history. Under Republic Act No. 9256, August 21st of every year is declared "Ninoy Aquino Day."

One of Aquino Jr.'s famous speeches, "The Filipinos are worth dying for," fueled the country's spirit and ultimately led to the People Power Revolution in 1986. His commitment to independence and the pursuit of democracy reminds us of the enduring power of courage and conviction in the face of adversity.

The question is, are Filipinos still worth dying for? Decades have passed, and the question still resonates louder than before.

In accordance with Proclamation No. 665 series of 2024, a special non-working holiday will be celebrated on Friday, August 23.

The Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers for the Academic Year 2024-2025 gathered at the John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod's (JBLCF-B) covered court for their oath-taking ceremony, August 16.

Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid V. Familiaran was present at the ceremony as the guest speaker, and he also led the oath of the newly elected Lacsonian student leaders.

This oath-taking event is held annually for the new set of SSG officers to commemorate their commitment to their duties and responsibilities.

𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 | Bouvet Shipping Management Corporation Conducts Cadet Selection

Bouvet Shipping Management Corporation (BSMC) conducted its cadet selection at the John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation - Bacolod (JBLCF-B) HMA Functional Hall, August 12.

Wendy Zeng, the owner's representative from Singapore, along with Remy Dote, the BSMC person-in-charge of scholars, represented the company at today's event.

Eight cadets from the 1st to 3rd years of the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSME) programs were selected, with the process facilitated by the current BSMC scholars of JBLCF-B.

They were also joined by some former BSMC scholars and JBLFMU alumni, namely C/E Dante B. Delacruz, Jr., 1/AE Andrew Mart C. Calo, 2/AE Dave L. Perez, 2O Edvy Jannrei M. Berte, 3O Christian Gio E. Jance, and E/C Rengil V. Mana-ay.

BSMC annually selects outstanding maritime students to be part of the company's cadetship program.

An extraordinary evening of anointed praise and worship unfolded on August 9, 2024, as the "House of Glory Gospel Church" performed live at the John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod covered court.

With invaluable support from the Supreme Student Government (SSG), the event sought to encourage a God-centered community among JBLCF-B students, highlighting the essence of praise and worship.

"This event provides an opportunity for our school. By coming together in worship, we are not only celebrating our shared beliefs but also reinforcing the moral and spiritual foundations that will guide us in our everyday lives," stated Mdpn. Jian Nash Tolentino, SSG president.

Various worship songs resonated throughout the venue, with shouts of praise glorifying God, praying, and placing Him at the center of every Lacsonian's life.

The House of Glory Foursquare Ministries is based in Mandalagan, Bacolod City, Philippines.

Mdpn. John Christian Ang of BSHM 1-A and Mdwn. Shanewill Pedrosa of BSMT 1-S2 were named 1st runners-up, while Joshua Grate of BSHM 1-B and Chñ Sznn Piagola of BSMT 1-HG7 were declared 2nd runners-up.

For the Special Awards, Mr. and Ms. Congeniality were awarded to Crystal Gayle Jumamel (BSHM 1-B) and Joshua E. Grate (BSHM 1-B), and Mr. and Ms. Photogenic were given to Arianne Luther Sunga (BSHM 1- A) and Benedict Candelario (BSMT 1 - S4).

Lacsonian spirit reignited as freshmen came together for "Let's Playhouse of the Dragons," an event prepared by the Supreme Student Government (SSG) at the institutions covered court on August 8, 2024.

The second day's afternoon events of the Freshmen Week Celebration were highlighted with the " Juanted" activity, wherein a female searcher looks for a match among her fellow freshmen.

The event also featured a variety of engaging games, including the sack race, calamansi relay, tomato dance, dodgeball, and tug of war, to uplift the students.

The second day of freshmen week commenced with a welcoming walk for the first-year students from the MLA Quadrangle to the JBLCF-B's covered court.

The welcome walk was followed by the opening remarks by Ms. Cheryl Pagunsan, the student activity coordinator, who gave an inspirational message to the first-year students, leading to a positive start.

Mrs. Nellete Joy V. Garinganao, RN, MAN, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of the overall wellness of the students; afterward, the freshmen icon candidates from three departments introduced themselves, walking tall with confidence.

Before the program concluded, the SSG officers and the Klub Musika Juan led the community in dance and singing, concluding with a productive and healthy celebration.

John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation - Bacolod celebrated the dedication and hard work of its IPLEDGE awardees with a pinning ceremony on August 7, held at the institution's covered court.

E/C Rengil V. Mana-ay, the class of 2024's most outstanding graduate, graced the occasion and delivered an inspiring message to the first-year students, highlighting the importance of having the drive and motivation to pursue their dreams.

"As early as now, train your mind to be stronger than your emotions because a powerful mind is the key to unlocking your true potential. Remember, resilience and discipline are your anchor. It will hold you steady as you navigate through waves of life.", E/C Mana-ay expressed during his speech.

The ceremony also featured different speakers, including Mr Ivan Gayotin, Mrs Amabel B. Subong, and Mr Jun C. Montano, with their various orientations.

The event offered a unique opportunity for first-year students to gain exposure to various settings and widen their perspectives.

JBLCF-B's newly appointed Unit Administrator, Engr. Sylvino V. Tupas, together with Ms. Cheryl E. Pagunsan and Mr. Rexenel S. Ibardolaza, held the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open all exhibits and booths.

Clubs and organizations officers facilitate the club enlistment, opening doors for new members to showcase their dedication and interests.

New faces, new leaders, and a fresh academic year full of unique experiences await the Lacsonian community.

John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod (JBLCF-B) is set to embark on the 2024-2025 academic year, kicking off with the Freshmen Week Celebration themed "Inclusivity in Diversity: A New Horizon Awaits," held at JBLCF-B’s covered court on August 6th.

Engr. Sylvino V. Tupas, the school's administrator, extended a warm welcome to the attendees. Following his address, the esteemed faculty and staff who have dedicated themselves to providing quality service were introduced by the Student Activity Coordinator, Cheryl E. Pagunsan.

The event also featured the introduction of the 2024–2025 Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers, who participated in a ceremonial turnover and passing of the Key to Responsibility.

Newly elected SSG President, Mdpn. Jian Nash G. Tolentino delivered a gracious acceptance speech, followed by a video tribute prepared by Mdpn. Mike Rey Templora, the newly elected SSG Vice President, showcased the legacy and journey of the previous year's SSG officers.

Various clubs and organizations, including company scholars and the Model Cadet Circle, were also introduced before the program concluded.

The Lacsonian community warmly welcomes the first-year students. Join us on this journey as we navigate the exciting experiences that await us!

John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (Bacolod), Inc. officially kicks off the Academic Year 2024-2025 with a freshmen week celebration at the school’s covered court.

Headed by the Supreme Student Government, this three-day annual activity aims to connect the students while giving them a glimpse of what the school has to offer.

Philippine National Volleyball Team—Alas Pilipinas bags the bronze medal in the first Leg of the 4th South East Asian Volleyball League on August 4, in Vĩnh Phúc, Vietnam.

Leg 1's best Setter, Jia Morado De Guzman, led the team to victory against Indonesia (25-23, 15-25, 25-23, 25-21).

Thea Gagate bagged the Best Middle Blocker award after showing her blocking skills and attacking prowess, which contributed to 10 markers.

National University's Alyssa Solomon topscored with 16 points, supported by the 13 points each of PVL stars Eya Laure and Sisi Rondina.

The Bronze finish was the first Southeast Asian podium for the Philippines after 5 years. In 2019, the team also won Bronze in the same league.

Alas Pilipinas now has two podiums finished this year, namely: the AVC Challenge Cup (May 2024) and SEAVLeague Leg 1 (August 2024).

Marking the start of a new school year for everyone, Lacsonians gathered together for the first ever flag ceremony for the academic year 2024-2025 in the school's covered court.

Facilitated by the Supreme Student Government (SSG) Officers and 824th NROTC Officers.

The opening prayer was led by the SSG President, Jian Tolentino, followed by value sharing for the freshmen by Mike Templora, the SSG Vice President.

Dr. Sylvino Tupas, the new administrator of the John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation - Bacolod, delivered valuable opening remarks that emphasized the message and significance of this school year's theme, "Inclusivity in Diversity: A New Horizon Awaits.".

This academic year is shaping up to be a succesful sailing towards navigating and overcoming obstacles to reach for greatness.

Carlos Yulo, a 24 year old athlete representing the Philippines at the Olympics 2024, secured the gold medal in the artistic gymnastic men’s floor event held this Saturday at the Bercy Arena in Paris.

The athlete executed his routine perfectly with a firm landing scoring him 15.000 points, sealing the first Olympic medal in gymnastics for the Philippines.

“I’m so overwhelmed. I’m feeling grateful for having this medal and for God. He protected me, as always. He gave me the strength to get through this kind of performance and perform this well.” Yulo stated.

This remarkable achievement marks the second Olympic gold in the country’s history following the achievement of the weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, who won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Carlos Yulo has another chance of bagging another medal in the vault finals held this Sunday.

John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation, Bacolod Inc. has achieved an outstanding passing rate of 99% for the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and 100% for the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) in the MSAP 2024.

The Maritime Schools Assessment Program (MSAP) is a nationwide academic assessment for second-year maritime students. It is supported by the International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMAJ) and implemented by the Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council, Inc. in Manila.

Congratulations to all the students and faculty for garnering this achievement.
