A total of 157 graduates from the College of Allied Medical Health Sciences (CAMHS) were recognized during the 78th Commencement Exercises at the University Amphitheater, June 22.

Seven Magna Cum Laude, four Cum Laude, and one Loyalty Awardee received recognition among CAMHS graduates.

โ€œI go by the Latin quote โ€œOra et Labora,โ€ which means prayers and work while putting effort into our dealings with life and asking God to bless the effort we put into things," Mary Catherine Nakar, Nursing Department Magna Cum Laude, said.

Nakar also stated that she survived college through perseverance, and that the award was not the goal, but rather not having regrets at the end of an academic journey.

Moreover, the official 2024 graduates of CAMHS consist of 84 Medical Technology students, 42 Nursing students, and 31 Pharmacy students.

๐‚๐‡๐€๐๐†๐„ ๐‚๐‡๐€๐’๐ˆ๐๐†

College is hectic; everyone has their own ways to cope with the pacing of the system. The purpose of elections is to alleviate the condition of the college and address the concerns of the students. It is always the voice of the masses who persist, however sometimes, it is a product of deceit in forms of whispers behind their ears. Each has a different definition of the "most qualified candidate" depending on their understanding of the word "leadership." Before casting votes, considering the welfare of the student body and the development of the college are always the priorities.

There are those who run for a good cause and those who run for their own cause. The underlying reasons behind wanting to win the elections test the genuineness of the candidates: Is clout involved? What's their intentions? Can they balance their academic life?

Wearing titles on shoulders and invisible crowns on heads as mere accessories for personal cries for recognition are not something a leader should flex. A faรงade is easy to detect, as the words that come from their mouth are hollow and insufficient. Instead, a student leader must show off what they can offer for the benefit of everyone. He or she must be capable of proving what they show in front of the camera. Leadership is never an entertainment to put up a show, be its main character, and expect flowers and confettis after the performance.

Having numerous titles accompanied by praises can make one feel accomplished, yet, it is not right to grab all the credits when the work is not solely done by you. There are those who claim the trophy when the labor is successful but clean their hands when the pursuit is deemed a failure. To diminish work opportunism, equal work and equal recognition must come hand in hand.

Student leaders must be able to balance their academics and council life. It is tiring to hear frequent excuses as to how they cannot meet their academic deadlines due to outside responsibilities. Thriving in their other duties while neglecting their academics negatively affects their fellow students because it contradicts the idea of running for the good of the student body. They must be able to cater the demands of their multiple roles because they are the ones who chose a life different from that of a normal student.

The preferences of the students mirror their characters and morals. Selecting candidates will determine how much one cares for his or her department. May the students be able to treat the maladies that has long been infecting the elections- clout chasing, credit grabbing, and negligence.

Awaken from a fanciful illusion,
Eyes gazed in one motion.
Doubts, fears, and sudden conclusion,
Questions, uncertain in fulfilling life's mission.

Perceived pathway of thy reverie,
Outcome is still pure misery.
As I abide in these dreams I call mine,
Wishing success in the righteous time.

Script engraved in my cryptic mind,
All hidden wonders one can find.
As mementoes arise from veiled depths,
I find my soul embracing my chosen path.

Yet in the staid serenity,
I clasped the thread of newfound dreams.
Recalling the pledge I whispered in the gentle breeze,
Like the sun that gives us all a wish to shine,
Tomorrow's dream I claim as mine.

In the morning, CAMHS clinched victory in women's doubles category, claiming the Billiards Championship title with finesse.

Four-legged athletes donned their finest sports attire and joined their human counterparts in SportsPets mini parade, showcasing their competitive spirit and adorable athleticism.

On the other hand, CAMHS delighted the crowd with Blackpink-themed routine in the afternoon event despite falling short of victory in cheerdance competition.

Furthermore, CEN won the competitionโ€™s championship, followed by CBA and COED in that order.

The college earned 325 points, securing the second runner-up overall placement.

Congratulations to all athletes and dancers for their outstanding efforts and passion showcased throughout the week, ending their U-Cup 2024 journey on a high note.

Coiling closer to the championship, CAMHS Pink Serpents proudly brought home the second runner-up title of the recently concluded University Cup 2024 with an overall score of 325 points.

Indeed, that pink venom beguiled in spite of every hurdle and favored us to ascend and reach excellence beyond borders.

This is only the kickoff of an exhilarating brand-new quest; the vicious poison is far from over. Till the next time, let them taste that pink venom all over again.

Medical Technology (MedTech) student Jan Lynette Mansader and Nursing student Ma. Theresa Pineda defied the odds and were hailed as champions after competing with COED Phoenixes in Women's Doubles Category in Billiards at the University Mini-gym, April 27.

"We always practice together to build connection since we only became partners for less than a week," Pineda said.

Pineda also revealed that they owned a billiard hall before which gave her an edge among others.

Moreover, Nursing students Rica Mae Rojo and Sean Julian Pelayo represented CAMHS in both men and women's singles category.

Furthermore, MedTech students Ceasar Ian Monares and Nel Torlie Sabio carried the college's name in men's doubles category.

For the fifth day of U-Cup 2024, three major events were widely anticipated by CAMHS.

In the morning, the E-sports open-category event concluded with Serpents securing third place for CODM and Valorant.

The afternoon events consisted of championship matches for women's volleyball and football, of which, both garnered the second place title out of the seven colleges.

CCJE Dragons blocked the Serpents from advancing to first place in women's volleyball.

On the other hand, CEN Tigers kicked away the gold from Serpents in the women's football.

Currently, the college has achieved 300 points as far as the tally goes.

Moreover, the cheerdance competition and announcement of winners will commence at the University Amphitheater tomorrow, April 27.

Failing to defend their championship title, CEN Tigers dethroned CAMHS Serpents with a 5-0 score difference in women's football at the University Field, April 26.

Tigers succeeded to break through two goals during the first half and three goals during the second half.

"Despite our setbacks and our players' conditions, we still managed to finish our games with our hardwork and perseverance," Coach Gliza Calzado expressed.

Moreover, Calzado also revealed that the first time the team was complete was during the game itself, since the players have conflicting schedules which affected their practices.

In addition, CAMHS drubbed CCJE, CAS, CIT, and CBA in order to reach final round.

Clasping the first set alone, Lady Serpents tossed their way up to second place in an overwhelming two-set defeat against the Lady Dragons during the women's volleyball championship at the University Covered Court, April 26.

"Bringing our college to a championship match for the first time is our biggest achievement," said Lady Serpents Volleyball Team Captain Franchette Colleen San Miguel.

San Miguel further stated that future Serpent volleyball players should trust themselves and not give up until the opponent has not won the set.

In addition, Serpents spiraled to achieve the second spot from being hailed as fifth placers last year, while the Dragons successfully upheld their championship title.
