The Sandbox Jam Night has arrived! After an extensive trial period we are stoked to announce it publicly!

Jam night is a (free) weekly 4 hour studio session on Tuesday nights starting at 6pm. Each session aims to produce a fully original song written, arranged, preformed live, mixed and mastered!

The song file will be shared directly with those who attend and is under the Creative Commons license. Jam Nights may be filmed to be used as promotional material. Perhaps release a "best of" album at the end of the year?!

To sign up, flick us a DM or email with your name, instrument and Tuesday of preference. There is a maximum capacity of 5 musicians per session so be sure to book in advance! Bookings open from starting 9th of May.

With this initiative, we aim to showcase a diverse array of local talent as well as promote awareness of our space and services.

Calling out to pianists! Let's talk about piano. It's one of the greatest instruments of all time, used in so many different ways, in a myriad of genres, from classical to jazz to rock, pop, ambient, and so many more. And yet, is one of the more technically difficult instruments to record because of its complexity in timbre. Recording piano is a fine art, and here at Sandbox studio, not only do we have a gorgeous sounding piano, we also know how to record it to sound exactly the way you want it!

Our piano was made by Czech manufacturer Weinbach, also known by the name Petrof who are world-famous piano manufacturers. The piano has been modified to reduce mechanical noise such as pedal sounds. Approximately nine microphones are used to record the piano to the highest level of detail. Our founding team member Benni Krueger is a qualified piano tuner & technician from Germany. Benni looks back on 20 years of professional services and thousands of well-tuned pianos all around the globe. The piano at Sandbox Studio is tuned pitch perfect before every recording.

How do you record guitar that sounds a cut above from the rest? Guitar, particularly acoustic guitar, is one of the more difficult instruments to record and get sounding not only realistic, but really great. And let's be honest, who ISN'T a singer-writer these days? Every second Joe or Sally has a guitar and some talent stored away, and dreams of one day making their debut.
