2025 is looking bigger than ever for us: kicking off with Graham Norton, we have international and local authors attending festivals around the country, book launches from NZ’s brightest writers and illustrators, and even more that we’re not able to talk about yet! The successful candidate will be:
▪️Passionate about the power of publicity to connect readers with books
▪️An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing
▪️Able to attend events, such as book launches and author talks – these may be outside normal working hours
▪️A multitasker with keen attention to detail
▪️Able to meet deadlines
▪️Confident working across Microsoft and social media platforms
▪️Committed to the importance of diversity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
▪️Able to build positive working relationships with internal and external contacts

Ooh, thanks Marion! Our ākonga loved working with the Kennett Brothers on The Cycling Pioneers.

Marion has read two great books she'd love to tell you about!

Pretty Ugly by Kirsty Gunn
"Here Gunn’s stories explore what we might read as uncomfortable or ugly, as in the title. But what are we really feeling when we read these stories? Alive, and beyond fear of truth. The works themselves are dark, uncomfortable and menacing. We can also say exciting, vivid, wild and darkly beautiful. There comes a release of great pleasure at reading such writing.

Gunn gets in there where others may falter. Consider the close relationship between beautiful and ugly. Here is the marvellous result.

Concise, elegant, superb writing."

The Cycling Pioneers by Michael Toohey

"This is a wild and crazy ride through the history of cycling in Aotearoa. Full of crazy facts, and exceptional skills from early designers, builders and riders.

There has been an incredible amount of change and development in a small amount of time to get to the vehicles we see around today. They were inspired!"
