I was photographing the Wellington qualifier on the weekend and got this image from above of one of the competitors reactions. To me it summed up the joy of doing a great Manu.

This is a new project that I have started working on and can share now 😀

Our contractors Downer NZ are getting underway on the site of a planned new Wastewater storage tank, pump station and associated infrastructure just north of the Porirua Railway Station. 🛠

When complete, this work will help reduce untreated water overflowing from the network into the local stream and coastal waters during heavy rainfall events.

A really cool introduction to the history of Transmission Gully as we know it now - one of my photos got used in this recent post. Great to see the advancements in transmission in NZ - its the way to continue our journey of decarbonising.

Four years of work, condensed into 1 minute 30 seconds, an engineering feat!

Position has now been filled - thanks so much for all those who reached out. What an amazing talent pool in Wellington :)

We're hiring!

Looking for a part time Studio Admin Coordinator.

We are looking for a part-time Studio Admininstrator (10-20hrs pw), to work flexible hours over 5 days a week (ideally). This role could involve structured hours, or alternatively fit into a more flexible schedule, depending on you. The vision is for this role to provide at least 2hrs per day admin support to our creative team, either based in our Cuba St studio, or remotely. Once a week we'd have a scheduled catch up coffee meeting to reviewing the week, and forecast the week(s) ahead.

Initally we are looking at a 3 month contract, with a review, to then renew or expand the role.

Position Description:

Manage incoming emails; triage into actionable, and those needing further review.

Book jobs into the calendar and confirm availability with clients.

Draft estimates based on defined formulas.

Set up projects using a prescribed system, using online tools (Worfklow Max and Asana).

Check availability of producers and crew, confirming in the calendar.

Setting up project job folders and documentation ready for shoots.

Scheduling and revidewing long-form projects such as ongoing video shoots and time-lapse projects.

Interfacing with producers on larger projects to ensure they have what they need.

Managing the documentation of projects, and archiving.

Weekly coffee in-person or virtual meeting to go over the previous week (following up with anything left to do and any lessons learned), and looking at the month ahead to make sure everything is in order.

Monthly reviews of all projects - updating milestones and targets.

We are a small business that scales to suits the needs of our clients and their projects. One of the opportunities for improvement we have identified, has been a more systematic and organised approach to the administrative side of our business. We are mostly creatives - with a passion for visual storytelling, so an ability to interface with that personality type is important, but not that you need to be a creative practitioner yourself.

Rate will be negotated based on experience of successful candidate, as well as an ability to hit the ground running. Rates will be negotiated at agreed intervials (3 months initially).

How to apply:

Please email a CV to [email protected] along with a cover email explaining why you think you would be good for the role and if the hours would work with your current stituation. Let us know if you have the ability to easily get to the studio (Abel Smith Street, Wellington) and if you have remote working capabilities/ preferences.

It was a real privilege to witness up close and photograph the first Electric Air flight across the Capital this morning. A great pilot from GCH Aviation - Garden City Helicopters and thanks to Wellington International Airport for the opportunity 😀 It never gets old seeing the city from the air at that altitude!

So exciting to witness New Zealand’s first electric aircraft land in Wellington this morning! Congratulations to Electric Air for demonstrating what the future of electric travel might look like.

We’re looking forward to welcoming our first commercial electric flights with Sounds Air from 2026.
