NNL24 PLAY-OFF: NASARAWA DEPUTY GOVERNOR INSPIRES NASARAWA UNITED AHEAD ZAMFARA CLASH.

The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, on Friday evening, placed an important phone call to players and officials of Nasarawa United Football Club ahead of the team's last Conference C game against hosts, Zamfara United FC, on Saturday (tomorrow), 27th, April, 2024.

During the team's pre-game in-house pep-talk held at their hotel accommodation in Sokoto, the Deputy Governor, in the telephone conversation, said;

"Due to the value the Government attaches to this game against Zamfara United, His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, approved money to enable the team go to the match venue by air so as to ease the stress of travelling by road. Unfortunately, all efforts to secure available flights for the entire traveling team proved abortive.

"We are a people of faith, so, when things don't work as we planned, we allow the will of God to take preeminence because only God knows best why that happened, despite all the efforts Government put in place to secure a flight.

"We are sorry for everything that happened, but again, everything works for good.

"However, since we can't secure the flight to airlift you to Sokoto, the money is still yours.

"All we need from you guys is, at least, a draw, tomorrow, and you will all see what the Government of Engr. Abdullahi Sule will do for you.

"We are with you, and praying with you, and by the grace of God, and with your collective efforts, we shall all have cause to celebrate.

"We also pray God to bring you back home safely after the game."

Physically present in Sokoto with the team during the virtual communication with the Deputy Governor were the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Nasarawa State, Jafaru Ango, alongside Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, and Chairman, Nasarawa State Football Association, Salisu Galadima 'Basira', while some indigenes of Nasarawa State resident in Sokoto State, notably the Sarkin Samarin Wamba, Usman Tanze Danjuma, also visited the team to boost the players' morale.

The Commissioner and Permanent Secretary had earlier apologized to the team for the unfortunate flight incident but were optimistic that the ugly situation would not deter the team from picking the maximum points at the Giginya Memorial Stadium, Sokoto, when Nasarawa United lock horns with Zamfara United by 3pm in the last game of Conference C of the 2023/24 Nigeria National League Season to determine which team joins El-Kanemi Warriors FC in the Super Eight Play-off competition to produce eventual qualifiers for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League Season.

The Solid Miners, 2nd on the Conference C table with 32 points, two behind table-topping El-Kanemi Warriors, have the opportunity to go top of their Group should they achieve victory in Saturday's match-day sixteen game, but a point would equally be enough to secure advancement to the final stage of the qualifiers ahead of 3rd-placed Wikki Tourists who have 29 points from fifteen games.

Recall that Governor Abdullahi Sule, during the week, had approved a request by the Management of Nasarawa United to go to Sokoto, temporary home ground for Zamfara United FC, by Air, to conserve energy and reduce the traveling time by road so as to better prepare the team for the expected result enroute to the Super Eight Play-off.

NGO Women Group seeks government intervention in gender-based violence prevention in Nassarawa State.

The non-governmental organization, Slum and Rural Health Initiative (SRHIN) has issued a compelling call for government intervention to combat gender-based violence (GBV) in Nassarawa State.

The SimbiHealth (SRHIN) Women's Group is advocating for comprehensive measures to protect the rights and safety of women and girls across the state.
Gender-based violence remains a critical concern in Nassarawa State, with many women and girls facing various forms of abuse, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and harmful traditional practices. These acts not only inflict physical and psychological harm but also undermine the fundamental rights and dignity of individuals.
The Women Group is urging the government to take decisive action by implementing robust policies, strengthening law enforcement mechanisms, and enhancing support services against GBV.

Additionally, the Slum and Rural Health Initiative is calling for increased public awareness and education initiatives to challenge harmful gender norms and promote gender equality.

By mobilizing collective efforts and resources, SRHIN believes that meaningful progress can be made in preventing and addressing gender-based violence in Nassarawa State.

The organization remains committed to working closely with government agencies, civil society partners, and community stakeholders to create safer and more equitable environments for all residents.

TENTATIVE RESPONSE TO THE OUTLANDISH AND HISTORICALLY FALLACIOUS CLAIMS BY ONE JIBREEL GIMBA IN HIS LETTER TO GOVERNOR ABDULLAHI A. SULE OF NASARAWA STATE.

By M.O Adamu Esq.

This is by no means an exhaustive piece in response to a vexatious and provocative letter penned by one purveyor of falsehood, Jibreel Gimba, with nothing else in mind but to confuse the unsuspecting public and stand history and truth on their heads.
As the heading suggests, this piece is neither exhaustive nor historical enough to bring readers up to speed with regards to how we got here with our otherwise guests- the Bassa people, but a simple remediation efforts at putting the records straight. A lot of documents are already out there in the public domain for possible review by interested persons.
The claims that the communities of Katakpa, Shege, and Ugya were founded by the Bassa ethnic group are unfounded and have no historical basis. The truth of the matter is that these communities were founded by the Egbura ethnic group, who are the rightful owners of the land and have always been ruled by Egbura ethnic extraction.
Firstly, it is important to note that the Bassa people came to Toto LGA area as guests of the Egbura people. Nothing can disprove this as there is no documented and/or recorded history showing that there is a part of Toto local government originally deforested or conquered in any war by the Bassa.
They came and were welcomed into the land by the Egbura people and allowed to settle there, a gesture that cannot be taken by any right thinking being that so doing the Egbura have ceded their right to the ownership of the land or give the Bassa the right to usurp the traditional rulership of the Egbura people.

Furthermore, the claim that Ugya, which has been ruled since the 1750s by the Egbura people, with the present ruler, Adamu Musa being the 16th, was founded by the Bassa is not only illogic but confounding.
It is to be noted that since the founding of Ugya, no any other family of Egbura ethnic group outside the four ruling houses has ever produced its ruler, let alone from a different tribe. The traditional rulership of Ugya, like any other African or monarchical setting, is hereditary and belongs exclusively to the four ruling houses of Egbura people.
This is a fact that cannot be altered at any time whether the founders, by some function of demography at some point, become numerically disadvantageous compared to the their guests. Population is not one of the indicators of landownership. World over, for the sake continuing peaceful coexistence and mutual benefit, indigenes are so recognized while the guests benefits from their benevolence. Anything else is recipe for rancour.
Let it also be reminded that it is on records and a well-known fact that at no time since the 80s, beginning from Ittu through to Kuwa, Kanyehu, Umaisha, Ugya, and now Katakpa massacres, were the Egbura people ever the aggressors or first to attack. The Bassa people were and have always been the ones to initiate attacks to kill, maim and destroy the Egbura people and their property.
The recent attacks on Katakpa community by the Bassa people are nothing but a repeat of their arm-twisting tactics, which they employed in the past to get the government of Umaru Tanko Almakura to award them the stool of Aguma Bassa. The tone of Gimba's clearly indicates that they are at it again to arm twist Governor Sule into granting their wishful thinking. It is our hope that the state government is now wiser.
It is also important to note that traditional rulership or stool is not a creation of legislation and cannot exist in a vacuum. There must be land in addition to the people to be controlled by a traditional ruler, and this is one thing that the Bassa people do not have in any part of Toto LGA.
Traditional rulership is traditional, as the name suggests, and it's organic as well as hereditary.
The areas known and described today as Opanda Kingdom, covering Toto district to Umaisha district belongs exclusively to the Egbura people, who have been the rightful and sole owners of the land for centuries.
Hence, for the sake of the uninitiated or onlookers, the claims by the Bassa people that they founded the communities of Katakpa, Shege, and Ugya, and that they have the right to rule over them, are completely unfounded and have no historical basis.
The truth is that these communities were founded by the Egbura people, who are the rightful owners of the land and whose traditional rulership have been hereditary for centuries.
Therefore, any attempt by the Bassa people to claim ownership of the land or to usurp the traditional rulership of the Egbura people will continue to strongly resisted in accordance with the law. No amount of victimhood, intimation or propaganda will make the Egbura people to give up their inherent rights to their land.

Arrest Samson Daudu Now Over Bassa Militias Gruesome Attacks - Concerns Toto Cultural Groups.

In recent times, the Toto local government area, has been plagued by the relentless and brutal attacks orchestrated by the Bassa militias. The peaceful existence of the villagers has been shattered by the nefarious activities of these armed groups, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in their wake. The need for decisive action to address this growing threat cannot be overstated.

At the center of this turmoil stands Samson Daudu, a figure believed to be intricately linked to the Bassa militias responsible for the heinous acts of violence against the Egbira people. With mounting allegations pointing to his involvement in these atrocities, the time has come to demand for his arrest.

The atrocities committed by the Bassa militias have instilled fear of their plans to make Nasarawa state ungovernable to His, Excellency, Egnr Abdullahi A Sule, The need to arrest Samson Daudu and dismantle the network of violence he represents is paramount to restoring peace and security to the area. Delaying action to arrest him will continue to jeopardize dialogue and reconciliations initiated by the state government.

In the face of such adversity, the Toto local government people unite in solidarity against the forces of violence. By raising their voices and demanding the arrest of Samson Daudu, we send a clear message that such atrocities will not be tolerated, and those responsible should be held accountable for their actions.

The time for complacency has passed. It is imperative that the authorities should take swift and decisive action to apprehend Samson Daudu and put an end to the terror inflicted upon the villages by the Bassa militias. The future of our people depends on it, and we must stand firm in our resolve to seek justice and ensure the safety and well-being of all.

The arrest of Samson Daudu is not just a matter of legal procedure but a crucial step towards restoring peace and security to the Toto LGA. By coming together and demanding accountability, we can send a powerful message that violence and injustice will not prevail. The time to act is now, and we must seize this opportunity to make our voices heard and bring an end to the reign of terror perpetrated by the Bassa militias.

Bassa Militias Plans to Make Nasarawa State Ungovernable: Samson Daudu should be declared Wanted.
***
In a shocking turn of events, the notorious Bassa militias known for killing worshipers in churches and mosques have resumed campaigns of terror since December 2023 in Toto LGA.

Many local analyst reveals that one Samson Daudu should be declared wanted in Nasarawa State and the announcement should be with immediate effect, that will send shockwaves to militias in the bush, waiting to unleash mayhem and possible it will end terrorism in the area.

Others are of the opinion that, Dr. D.W. Tukura and several other individuals should be put under arrest and they should be investigated over connection with the Bassa militias as he claimed that those in the bush are doing it for themselves, he may have answers as to who are they killing for?

Bassa militias want to make Nasarawa State ungovernable, authorities should work tirelessly to unravel the intricate web of conspiracies and prevent further escalation of violence.

The Bassa militias' plan to make Nasarawa State ungovernable has left many puzzled and concerned about the future of the state after several threats from other terror groups from the area, authorities should not daunt this revelation, it is a major task in containing the situation and restoring peace and order in the area.

The unfolding attacks by bassa militias has had a profound consequence on Nasarawa State, with residents living in fear and uncertainty, but the government and authorities have appealed for calm and cooperation as they work to bring those responsible for the unrest to justice and secure the peace of the area which is considered a priority.

As Nasarawa State grapples with the threat posed by the Bassa militias, unity and solidarity are more important than ever. The residents must come together to support the authorities in their efforts to restore peace and stability to the area.

Signed,
Concerns Inter tribal group.
