TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Plagiarism in graphic design involves copying and presenting someone else's work as your own without proper attribution.

As a graphic designer, it is common to be inspired by other designers or existing concepts, but it is crucial to add your unique touch and make significant changes to the design. Merely copying of making little or no changes to someone else's work is not only unethical but also inhibits personal growth and creative developments.

You can't creates a design that's heavily inspired by another designer and make little or no changes to it while you present it as yours. While this act will not only help your creativity level, it will also make your works not properly acknowledged especially if the owner of the idea is of widely known concepts.

It is important for graphic designers to be aware of thier sources, avoid repurposing of an existing design in the same way and present it as new without permission. It is always good to give credit where it is due.

To avoid this unethical act, creative professionals should always conduct thorough research and gather inspiration but ultimately create original and unique works. This will help to maintain thier own integrity and contribute to the growth and innovation of the design community as a whole.

CEF Announces 3rd National Undergraduate Essay Competition

The Kwara-based non-governmental organization, Champions' Educational Foundation (CEF), on the 19th November 2023 unveiled her 3rd national essay competition for undergraduate students in Nigeria.

The not-for-profit organization whose focus is on promoting the SDG4 (inclusive and equitable quality education) organizes national essay competition for undergraduates annually as her efforts to empower youths through critical and logical reasoning contests.

The announcement of this year's competition was made by the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Dr. AbdulKareem O. Ahmed through the CEF's Director of Media and Publicity, Mls. Ibraheem Olasunkanmi Qoseem. He stated that submission of essay commences from the date of announcement till the 20th of December 2023.

This year topic is "Nigeria's Population in 2063: Exploring The Challenges And Opportunities in Advance." In addition, a sum of three hundred and twenty-five thousand naira ( #325, 000) will be shared between the top three winners, including the induction of the ten best essayists to a one-year CEF fellowship program.

According to the Chairman," This year's national essay is set to examine a futuristic topic that is in line with the African agenda 2063".

"By 2050, it is forecast that Nigeria's population will grow to over 377 million people compared to approximately 219 million as of 2022. The increasing population comes with peculiar challenges as well as huge potential that can position the country highly among the comity of nations, especially in Africa, " he said.

He added that organizing the national essay competition is not only to empower youths but also provide an avenue where issues of national importance are discussed whilst practicable solutions are suggested.

It is worth noting that the participant must be an undergraduate of a higher institution in Nigeria, with a valid school I.D. card. Furthermore, the content must be plagiarism free, multiple entries are not allowed, entry must not be more than 2000 words(PDF format), and entries must be submitted via: https://globacef.org/nationalessay/

SHAYKH MUSTAPHA ZUGLOOL

Books have always been a major source of unraveling the mysteries and events of the past. One significance of book publications, especially historical books, is that it reminds us of our past, conserves our heritage, foster a deeper appreciation of history and pave the way for rich academic discussions.

It was a fruitful discussion when I was contacted for the reprint of the book: أزهار الربا في أخبار بلاد يوريا authored by Shaykh Mustapha Zuglool (may Allaah have mercy on him) which was first published in 1987. The reprint of the book (History of Yorubaland) features an abridged translation in English (with annotation).

In loving memory of Sheikh Mustapha Zuglool Al-Sanusi I, we must always remember his remarkable contribution and dedication to the pursuit of knowledge, as well his commitment to promoting peace and unity within the Ummah. Indeed, Shaykh was a beacon of knowledge.

For a life well spent with several accomplishments and his commitment towards guiding Muslims on the path of righteousness, Shaykh Zuglool will forever be remembered. May Allaah forgive and grant him the highest station in Jannah, among His pious servants. Amin.
