STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING
Jigawa State Executive Council, in its meeting held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, has taken significant steps towards advancing the educational and healthcare sectors in the state, as well as ensuring infrastructural development.
According to the Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, who briefed the press after the meeting, the following resolutions were reached by the meeting:
1. Examinations Registration Fees for Final Year Students: The State Executive Council has approved the payment of examinations registration fees for a total of 41,358 final year students from various secondary schools across the state. This initiative will encompass the following examinations:

• SSCE-NECO for 34,210 students
• NBAIS for 6,571 students
• NABTEB for 531 students
• BECE for 46 candidates
The total amount allocated for this endeavor is Seven Hundred and Twenty-Five Million, Two Hundred and Seventy-Two Thousand, Six Hundred and Eleven Naira and Twenty-Five Kobo (N725,272,611.25), to be disbursed through the Ministry of Higher Education.
3. UBEC/SUBEB Intervention Projects: The Council has approved a budget of Six Hundred and Ninety-Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Ninety-Two Thousand, Four Hundred and Seventy-Nine Naira, Fifty-Seven Kobo (N697,892,479.57) for the implementation of the 2023 1st and 2nd Quarters UBEC/SUBEB various intervention projects in the State. The anticipated outcomes of this project include:
• Construction of 156 new classrooms
• Renovation of 221 existing classrooms
• Installation of 40 Blocks of 4-cubicle toilets
• Installation of 68 Handpumps and Boreholes
• Supply of 14,016 sets of classroom furniture
• Construction of wall fences
These projects are crucial for enhancing the learning environment in schools and furthering educational development in the state.
4. Direct Facility Financing for Primary Health Centres: The Council has also endorsed the disbursement of Eighty-Four Million, Five Hundred and Ten Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira (N84,510,750.00) to 281 accredited Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the 281 political wards in the state. Each facility will receive Three Hundred and Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira (N300,750.00) for the 3rd quarter of 2023. This funding, provided by the National Primary Health Care Development (NPHCDA), is intended to support the procurement of essential drugs and the delivery of basic healthcare services to our communities.
These decisions reflect Governor Umar Namadi’s dedication to enhancing the well-being and prospects of the people of Jigawa State.
