FCTA denies TikTok video of plaza demolition
Emmanuel Agbo
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has denied any involvement in a recent TikTok video that shows the supposed demolition of a plaza located on Lobito Crescent, Wuse II, in Abuja. The administration has unequivocally stated that the video is fake and aims to spread misinformation and panic among the residents.
According to Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press in the Office of the FCT Minister, there was no demolition, but rather an infraction related to the building's use, which required appropriate measures to be taken. The FCTA is committed to enforcing regulations while prioritizing the safety and well-being of its residents.
The video being circulated as a current event was recorded two years ago in 2021. Furthermore, the building in question was not demolished, but some parts were removed to ensure compliance with the regulations.
The FCTA strongly condemned the deliberate spreading of false information, as it undermines trust and security within the communities.
He warned mischief makers who attach ethnic colouration to the offending video to desist from it because it creates unnecessary fear and disaffection.
He explained clearly that the building is still standing.
The FCTA has always taken great care in enforcing regulations while ensuring the well-being and safety of its residents.
The FCTA urged the promoters of such misinformation to desist from these actions, as they contribute nothing positive to society.
The minister remained committed to transparent communication and responsible governance, encouraging the public to verify information from reliable sources before spreading it further.
