District Reasi Wushu meet held

JAMMU, Nov 25: District Association under the aegis of Wushu Association of J&K (WAJK) organised Reasi Wushu Championship at Indoor Hall, Reasi involving 400 participants.
Those winners of this two-day meet were felicitated by Chief Prosecuting Officer (CPO), Rajeev Kumar, who was the chief guest. He congratulated the district association for providing young participants from various schools and clubs platform to perform and excel.
Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Arti Sharma presented a brief note of the event. Among others present were Mesh Singh, Darshan Thakur, Kamal Kishore, Jhamir Singh, Vaibhav Rukwal, Rattan Singh, Tanshiv Rana, Manik Sharma ,Gourav Sharma, Arjun Khajuria and Kuldeep Singh.

Kabaddi probable named for camp

JAMMU, Nov 25: Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association (JKAKA) today shortlisted the probable for the coaching camp for upcoming 70th Senior National (Women) Kabaddi Championship to be held in Punjab from December 10 to December 13.
Now, the selected probable shall undergo coaching camp at Kabaddi training facility, M A Stadium, here.

Pegasus FC wins opening Football tie

JAMMU, Nov 25: Pegasus Football Club made it a 2-0 win against fighting Nagrota Football Club in the opening match of the Jammu Gold Cup (Under-19) Football Tournament, organised by Young Heros Football club at GGM Science College grounds, here today.
Digvijay Singh Rajput (19th) and Varmanesh (63rd) were the scorers from the winning Pegasus Club. Since 14 teams are taking part in this, Pegasus today qualified for the next round of quarterfinals.
As per the fixtures, two teams of J&K Bank Academy and Param Football Club have already been placed in the quarterfinals. Today’s inaugural match officiated by the technical penal including Rocky Sharma (centre), Dilbahadur, Satnam Singh (assistant) and Dheeraj Meenia (fourth referee).
The event was declared open by Superintendent of Police (SP) North, Kulbeer Handa amidst interaction with the teams and officials as also the members of the organising committee. He appreciated the Young Heros FC for engaging young footballers with the sole aim to develop competition spirit among them.
Earlier, chairman of the organising committee, Ashok Sharma briefed the gathering about the week-long event and its importance in the presence of organising secretary, Rajesh Sumberia and assistant secretary, Kamaljeet. Among those prominent present were Kuldeep Singh, Shiv Paul Sharma, Ramesh Chander, Ravi Sharma (chairman Young Heros Club), Pawan Kumar Manni (member core committee Young Hero), Kuldeep Gupta (treasurer), Deepak Sangral and Ajay Kumar (Kaka).
FIXTURE: Young Star FC to meet Young Churchil at 1.30 pm; Football Club United Kathua to take on Young Rover FC at 3 pm.

Jammu Gold Cup U-19 Football begins Nov 25

JAMMU, Nov 22: Nagrota Football Club shall take on Pegasus Football Academy in the opening match of the Jammu Gold Cup (U19) Football Championship, organised by Young Hero Football Club under the aegis of J&K Football Association (JKFA) and J&K Sports Council at GGM Science College grounds, here from November 23.
“Since the fixture was in the process of making, 14 prominent clubs of the city, as also those competitive sides from Udhampur, Kathua and Poonch have confirmed their participation in this knockout competition,” said chairman of the organising committee, Ashok Sharma.
Last year the same club had organised the similar event for those under-17 footballers thus extending opportunities to the young talent.
“Our efforts to revive the football in Jammu through such events targeting the young footballers are being supported in a big way. The family of former treasurer of JKFA, and founder member of Vikram Club, R K Kohli has sponsored the prizes for the young teams as also souvenirs and title trophies,” further informed Sharma.
Meanwhile, a day-long competition for women footballers has also been made part of the event. Four teams, including one each from district Poonch and Kathua have confirmed their entries to the organising committee.

JAMMU, Nov 22: Senior IAS officer of J&K and son of the soil, Raghav Langar laid emphasis on allowing young children express themselves in the early years of life both at home and at the school.
Raghav was speaking to the gathering of parents, teachers and young children after witnessing a colourful cultural programme presented by the students of
Sprawling Buds ICSE School and Apple Kids International Pre-school, Bantalab on Annual Day at General Zorawar Singh Auditorum on JU Campus, here.
The event showcased a splendid amalgamation of student’s talent, academic achievement, and community spirit.
Dr. Raghav Langer was chief guest on the occasion. Major General, SK Sharma, AVSM (Retired) and president , Forum for Awareness of National Security and Parveen Sharma, Chairman Citizens’ co-operative Bank Ltd. were the guests of honour.
Dr Langer appreciated the efforts of the school in setting a remarkable standard for educational institutions and dedication in fostering an environment that encourages both academic and personal growth of the children. “It was truly a delight to witness the outstanding display of talent, creativity and academic excellence of the students,” he said.
The festivities commenced with Ganesh Vandana, followed by an enchanting cultural program that illuminated the stage with the diverse talents besides Yoga martial art performances.
Earlier, Director of the School, Seema Sharma welcomed the chief guest, special invitees and the parents of the students at the day-long function. It was followed by the presentation of annual report by the chairperson of the school, Arti Sharma. She expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from parents, dedication of faculty, and remarkable achievements of the students.

JAMMU, Nov 21: The 12-member J&K women Rollball team facilitated by the Secretary, J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Nuzhat Gul for winning third place in the recently held 37th National Games at Goa.
She appreciated the effort put in by the team and their coaching staff and hoped the team will do better in coming championships. The Secretary was informed that J&K team convincingly defeated Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Goa before going down to the champion Maharashtra.

The event marked a momentous occasion wherein students, faculty and parents came together to celebrate a year of academic performance, creativity and achievements.
