Reasi witnesses Natrang's Gulab Gaatha

Reasi 12th June, 2022

Natrang on the behalf of Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust started the screening of Film ‘Gulab Gaatha’ here today at the auditorium of DC Office, Reasi to commemorate the 200th anniversary of coronation of the first Dogra ruler of Princely State of Jammu & Kashmir Maharaja Gulab Singh. The series of shows were started yesterday at Udhampur. This series of screenings will also be organized in Kathua, Samba and Jammu. Ms. Babila Rakwal JKPS, Deputy Commissioner Reasi was the chief guest on the ocassion.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Karan Singh inspired Balwant Thakur to write, produce and direct this first ever film in the year 2017 on the history of the great Dogra ruler who created the larger princely state of India. Sharing his views Director Natrang Padmashree Balwant Thakur said that Natrang prides in the fact that it produced the first ever film on the creater of Jammu & Kashmir. Lot of research and collaborative effort has gone in the production of Gulab Gatha. He thanked Dr. Karan Singh for bestowing faith in him and his team and supported in realising this big dream production. As we are celebrating the 200th coronation day of Maharaja Gulab Singh, it is the high time that we all volunteer to take this film to every home in J&K and sensitize younger generations about their mind blowing rich past.

The film ‘Gulab Gatha’ is about the journey of a soldier who achieves great success at everything he initiated. His unquestionable obligatory obedience towards Lahore Durbar, his unconditional sacrifice and his conception of a kingdom has been regarded and given value in this. The greatness of leaders is not just in their works but in the way they have been appreciated and personified in the eyes of the people. Napoleon was a military and political hero of France and Alexander has been applauded for his greatness for his conquest. Gulab Singh as an emperor held the same qualities of being a courageous warrior. He was a normal person with no lineage of royalty but he established himself as a King with the help of his bravery and continued to keep a hold on his empire because of his well-planned strategic and diplomatic intelligence.

Government winds up the Department of Stationery and Office Supplies

SRINAGAR, JUNE 09: The Administrative Council (AC), which met here under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, approved the proposal of winding up the Department of Stationery and Office Supplies.
Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, J&K and Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor attended the meeting.
The decision has been taken in consideration of the fact that the General Financial Rules 2017, mandate the purchase of common use goods and services from the GEM Portal. Accordingly, all departments are making purchases through the GEM Portal, thus making the Department of Stationery and Office Supplies defunct and non-functional.
Presently, the Department has two stationery depots each at Jammu/Srinagar and 12 sub depots at Doda, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Leh and Kargil. The Department has a sanctioned strength of 5 Gazetted officers, 113 Non-Gazetted officials and 52 class IV employees.
The Administrative Council decided to close the Department and transfer its infrastructure and manpower to other Government departments, as per need, for their optimal utilization.
Earlier, the Department of stationery and office supplies was the nodal agency for procurement of stationery/paper and binding items for its onwards supply to all the Government/Semi Government Departments; issued rate contract for photocopier, copy printers, fax machines, toners, cartridges etc; and appointed a Government auctioneer. However, the advancements in IT interventions have made all these functions simpler and have obviated the necessity of maintaining a specialized cadre for the purpose.
