Army in Handwara reaches out for help

Handwara, Mar 27 : Two local units of Army in Handwara in north Kashmir's kupwara district Friday distributed free ration among non locals and provided medical aid to local populace amid the lockdown and threat prevailing due to COVID-19 in Jammu and kashmir.

Army's kilo force / 7 Sector RR/30 RR and 21 RR provided ration, medical aid and food items among migrant labourers and locals in Handwara.

In a statement issued here Army said it's local unit comprising of kilo force/7 sect RR and 30 RR distributed free ration among the non local migrant labourers during their hour of need here in Handwara.

Following this, the same unit moved out and provided medical aid to local populace in langate with regarding to the ongoing pandemic disease COVID-19 it included face masks and other items.

In another kind outreach Army's 21 RR unit distributed food items among the non local labourers amid the complete lockdown across the northern belt of Kashmir with no movement of general public and transport.

J&K Bank no EMI's on loans for next 3 months, As per RBI guidelines: Chairman

Jammu, Mar 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Bank, which has the largest number of branches in J&K and Ladakh union territories, has decided to fully implement the RBI guidelines seeking a three-month long moratorium on term loans.

R. K. Chhibber, Chairman of the Bank has called the RBI guideline as a major relief to bank”s borrowers during the tough times the country is presently passing through because of COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the RBI guidelines repayment of all the term loans will be extended by three months. The RBI directive also permits house finance companies and other financial institutions to extend this facility to their borrowers.

The traders in Jammu and Srinagar welcomed the decision terming it as the ”need of the hour”.

The opening pair of Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney got Australia off to a solid start in the summit clash of the Women’s T20 World Cup in Melbourne on Sunday. The pair added 115 runs for the first wicket in less than 12 overs, before Healy returned to the pavilion on 75 off just 39 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes.

Meanwhile, her partner Mooney remained unbeaten on 78 from 54 balls, guiding Australia post a stiff 184/4 in 20 overs.

Among the Indians, Shikha Pandey was the most expensive out of the lot. She conceded 52 runs in her four-over quota. Deepti Sharma, who had an equally disappointing outing in Melbourne on Sunday, scalped two wickets. Poonam and Radha Yadav were the other wicket-takers, sharing a wicket each.

Four killed in road accident in MP

Bhopal, Mar 8: Four persons were killed and two

others injured on Sunday after an MUV collided with a motorcycle and a scooter near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, police said.

The incident occurred in Eitkhedi area, about 15 kms from Bhopal, Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kaushal told PTI.

Prima facie, the MUV driver was responsible for the collision as the vehicle was being driven rashly on the wrong side of the road.

All the four persons, identified as Rasheed Khan (28), Munnu Shah (30), Ramzan Khan (35) and Babulal Sahu (72), died during treatment.

The driver of the MUV fled after the accident with the vehicle, Kaushal said. (PTI)
