The Centre appoints new Chief Justices in new six High Courts in India. The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of six high courts namely Delhi, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Guwahati.
Satish Chandra Sharma, Chief Justice of Telangana High Court has been transferred to Delhi High Court in the same capacity.
Vipin Sanghi, the acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court was appointed in the same capacity in Uttarkhand.
The other four high court judges have been elevated as chief justices.

Justice Rashmin Manharbhai Chhaya of Gujrat High Court has been appointed as Chief Justice Of Guahati High Court.

A section was introduced in the I-T Act which mandates deduction of tax at source at the rate of 10 per cent by any person, providing any benefit or perquisite exceeding Rs 20,000 in a year to a resident, arising from the business or profession of such resident.

Doctors and Social Media Influencer will have to pay 10% TDS for promotion of Products from July 1, 2022.Although, if they don’t retain equipment given to them as part of marketing effort by a company, TDS will not apply and if the are returned there will be an exemption.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has listed the rules under the new provision that explains the circumstances in which the new Tax deducted at source will be applicable.

Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP), Ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced former Governor of Jharkhand Droupadi Murmu’s name as its Presidential candidate on Tuesday for the upcoming elections scheduled for July 18, 2022.
If elected, the 64-year-old leader from Odisha will be the first tribal and the second woman to become the President of India.
She was the first woman and tribal leader from Odisha to be appointed as governor of any state. She served as the governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021, the first Governor to complete the term in the state.

Pravritti of the Ambubachi Mela will be performed at 8.19 pm on June 22 and the main door of the temple will be closed. The main door of the temple will remain closed till 8.4am, June 26th for the visito and only rituals will be performed. No visitors will be allowed when the rituals will be performed.

The district administration has issued guidelines to ensure strict adherence to COVID protocol. Sadhus who have come from various parts of the country took out a procession on the temple premises on Tuesday.

An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck eastern Afghanistan early Wednesday, At least 255 people were killed and several are seriously injured.

The epicenter was about 44 km from Khost city in Afghanistan and was at a depth of 51 km, said the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) has finally recovered the bodies of two boys who were swept away by the Flood in Rangia on Sunday, 19th June.

Two boys have been swept away by high currents of the increasing flood waters at Septi in Rangia in Kamrup Rural of Assam.
According to locals of the area, four boys were video shooting themselves at a road submerged under water. At the same time, a strong flow of water swept away two of the boys.
SDRF Recovered the bodies of two boys during their rescue operation, one on Sunday evening and other on Monday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday conferred awards to 14 eminent personalities during the Bishnu Rabha Divas at Chowkidingi playground in Dibrugarh on Monday.
The awards constituted by the State Directorate of Cultural Affairs included 3 national awards and 11 state awards.

The national award carried a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh while the State awards carried a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh beside citations.

Assam Flood Situation remains more worsen. With the overflowing Barak river, the people of Silchar town are facing a terrible flood situation.
Almost all the lanes and even the main roads have been submerged rapidly.
The Army, CRPF, NDRF, SDRF personnel, and Fire and Emergency personnel were seen in rescue operations. They rescued several people and shifted them to safer places.

A Cable car was stopped mid-air when it was carrying a total of 11 tourists in Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh.
A rescue trolley was deployed on the cable to get the passengers out and all 11 tourists were rescued after three hours. They were lowered, one at a time, onto a hill in the Kaushalya river valley below using harnesses.
The technical team of the Timber Trail operator was deployed and the police team was monitoring the situation. A team of the National Disaster Response Force was also Present at the Spot.

As all COVID-19 restrictions have been withdrawn from Assam, The Ambubachi Mela is set to return from June 22 to 26 at Kamakhya Temple.

The Guwahati Traffic Police has imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles during the period of Ambubachi Mela to be held from June 22 to June 26 in Kamakhya Temple premises in Guwahati,
To ensure the safety of the public, especially vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons on the road, and to give free passage to the emergency vehicles like Ambulances, Fire Tenders, etc. They issued a Traffic advisory for these days.

Also, The Kamrup Metro DC Pallav Gopal Jha issued a notification regarding the distribution of food during Ambubachi. Only drinking water is to be distributed from the Foothills to Maa Kamakhya Temple. No dry foods /biscuits are to be allowed on this route.

Besides this, The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma also advised people to avoid visiting the mela this year because of potential landslides due to extreme rainfall.

Given the urgency in maintaining peace and calm in the district, Additional District Magistrate on Sunday imposed prohibitory order throughout Kokrajhar district under section 144/144-A CrPC, 1973.

The order has banned gathering of five or more persons in any public places, taking out processions, shouting slogans, holding meetings, rallies, dharna, demonstrations, strikes, organizing meals, fares without obtaining permission, pillion riding, use of tinted glass in vehicles, use of a microphone for outdoor use without permission, carrying and brandishing of weapons, any kind of fi****ms and ammunition, explosive substances, days, lathis, bows and arrows, any hazardous tools and carrying out of any torchlight processions.

The order will continue to be effective until further order.

Amongst a raging flood situation in the entire Asam, the Brahmaputra is rising every minute.

In the Dibrugarh District, at Rahmaria near Chabua, Nine people were traveling in the country boat over the river Bramhaputra, fitted with a motor, and the boat overturned.

Dibrugarh's Additional Superintendent of Police Bitul Chetia said, "Five persons swam to the bank, while four are still missing. We have called the NDRF, which is carrying out an extensive search in the entire area and downstream.”

Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajt Pegu, senior officials of the District Disaster Management Authority, Fires and Emergency Services personnel, and other officials are at the spot.

The water level is swelling at the place where the accident took place, an official said.

In a flood rescue operation, led by the officer-in-charge who had gone to the Kampur area, The Tragic incident occurred.

In the operation, a constable Rajiv Bordoloi was swept away by the strong current of the flood waters, then OC Samujal Kakoty immediately jumped into the water in an attempt to save the constable. However, the strong currents of the water swept him away as well.

The state disaster response force recovered both bodies.

A Picture Captured by Atul Loke of a farmer who collapsed in a paddy field destroyed by an ongoing flood with a story titled “The weight of climate change” was published in The New York Times.

The Picture carried the picture of a farmer named Hifijur Rahman, a third-generation farmer from Assam, fainting in his field after witnessing the damage caused by floods coupled with the fear of repaying his debt.

It was not clear where the picture was taken.

In the senior women's 4km team event in the Asian Championships in Delhi; the Indian riders consisting of Assam’s Chayanika Gogoi and her team beat the Uzbekistan team to secure a bronze medal by a new national record (4.44m) 4:44.699s.
Assam Olympic Association announced a cash award of Rs 50,000 for Chyanika Gogoi.

After a gap of 17 years, the Indian team won a medal in the senior women's category in any Asian Track Cycling Championships.

completely discontinued from July 1. CPCB has also prepared a list of single-use plastics which with be completely closed from 1 July 2022.

If someone found single-use plastic use in any shop, the trade license of the shop will be canceled and the shopkeeper will have to reapply after paying the penalty to get the license again.

200 companies are making products as alternatives to single-use plastic products.

Astronomers from Australian National University (ANU), have discovered a Black hole ever spotted in space which is reportedly growing so fast that it consumes the equivalent of one earth each second.

The ANU Astronomers described, “ Very large, unexpected needle in the haystack.”
The Astronomers also described that the black hole shines 7000 times brighter than all the light from our own galaxy.

Whatsapp started working on a new privacy setting last year which allowed users to hide their profile photos, last seen and status updates from specific contacts. The company has announced that it is finally rolling out to all users across the globe on iPhone and Android devices.

Currently, there are three privacy options for your profile photo, last seen, and About info - Everyone, My Contacts, and Nobody. Now, there will be a fourth option called "My contacts except..." which will also now be available for Status privacy.

In addition to this new privacy control, WhatsApp also announced a few groups calling features, allowing users to mute others during a group call while also being able to message specific people. You will also see a banner when someone joins a group called offscreen.

The IMD Said, that Cherrapunji in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district recorded 97 cm rainfall over 24 hours on Friday, the third-highest quantum of rainfall recorded there in the last 122 years.
The second highest record of rainfall was recorded at 973.8 mm on June 5, 1956.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) is trying to document the rain recorded every hour to verify if the rainfall events can be categorized as cloudbursts. Abundant moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea has hit the Eastern Himalayas and brought extremely heavy rain (over 20 cm) to parts of Meghalaya and Assam- IMD said.

As per the IMD weather report, the Peoples of Guwahati and nearby states, will experience extensive rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the northeastern states for 5 days.

The transport might get affected by the heavy rainfall. Also, the flood situation may worsen due to an increase in the water level of all major rivers of Assam.
Water levels in Manas, Pagladiya, Puthimari, Kopili, Gaurang, and Brahmaputra rivers were above danger levels on Friday morning even as over 19782.80 hectares of cropland were submerged under floodwater.

IMD has suggested that the public should follow traffic advisories, avoid going through flooded arrears, and avoid staying in vulnerable structures and landslide-prone areas.

A boat carrying 24 flood-affected people capsized at Raikata in Assam’s Hojai district late on Friday evening. Police, SRDF, and Fire Emergency Services team rushed to the spot and safely rescued 21 persons. Three people are still missing,which include two children.

According to Assam State Disaster Authority (ASDMA), 87 villages in Hojai district are affected by floods.

Assam Flood situation worsens. A total of 54 people have lost their lives in the current overlook of floods this year.

Currently About The 28 districts of Assam that have been affected by floods are Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Hojai, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Karbi Anglong West, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tamulpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri.
A total of nine composite teams of the Army have been carrying out rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected districts of Baksa, Nalbari, Bajali, Darrang, Tamulpur, Hojai, and Kamrup.
The Indian Army, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Fire & Emergency Services of the Assam Police have launched massive rescue and relief operations in all the flood-affected districts.
With the India Meteorological Department predicting more rains in the next 24 hours, there seems no immediate respite for the people from floods in Assam.

On Wednesday Assam Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in the Assam BJP state executive at Diphu, announced that a financial package of Rs 500 crore will be released to the workers and employees of the two Nagaon and Cachar paper mills by June 30. As it provides relief to the workers and rewards their years of hard work.

The Cachar Paper Mill at Panchgram in Hailakandi district and Nagaon Paper Mill at Jagiroad in Morigaon have been closed since October 2015 and March 2017 respectively.

The employees of the two paper mills have not been paid salaries for the past 64 months. Meanwhile, the death toll of workers of the two mills has gone up to 106 with an ailing employee of the Cachar Paper Mill passing away on Monday. A majority of the workers have been unable to afford proper medical treatment owing to the financial crisis.
This is a big relief for the workers of the two paper mills.
