Hi all
A quick note to say that Friday Anthems will be taking a break for a while on Apple FM Taunton
Family already comes first and right now mine needs me. To produce shows and present on the radio weekly does take up some time and at the moment it's time I simply won't have.
Do not fear though, we will be back on a currently undefined date, but I promise to keep you in the loop.
Don't forget to tune in every Saturday night to Apple FM Taunton where amongst others will keep you entertained in my absence and don't forget the lovely Amanda will continue to kick start your Friday night from 6.
Like I always say at the end of my shows, have a safe few weeks and I'll catch you all real soon.

Friday Anthems was launched on Friday Drivetime in April 2017 as a way of upping the tempo and the mood on the stations output from 5pm as we entered the weekend and the general music feel changed on the station. Previous to this, a 30 minute “Feel Good Friday - The Warmup” slot was in its place from 5.30pm, but when this show was cancelled, the decision was made to rebrand to Friday Anthems and extend to the whole 5-6pm hour.
The slot started off with a mix of genres, but quickly became party and dance focused as 2017 rolled on. Headed by presenter Chris Wareing, it also added an extra interactive eliment to the stations output, with listeners letting Chris know what they were up to and how they were preparing for the weekend. The show also featured remixes of songs from well known artists and has had in the past sub features of “All Time Friday Anthem” where Apple FM presenters guest picked there own song and “Classic Friday Anthem” focusing on dance music from the 90’s and 00’s.
Annual look back shows of the biggest Friday Anthems took place the Friday prior to Christmas in both 2017 and 2018 - the 2018 edition being the first fully mixed show, taking place over 2 rather that the regular hour and marketed as “The Office Party” with special idents made up for this. From January 2019, Friday Anthems became fully in the mix, over 4 x 15 minute segments to fit in with the Drivetime Format, growing from 18 to 20 songs for the hour, including a weekly “Classic Friday Anthem” although by July 2019, this was included without having its own feature, simply mentioned as a “throwback”. Also introduced was a “Future Breaker” which was a new track which would be featured in the mix on the next Friday Anthems episode.
It did look that Friday Anthems would be coming to a premature end in March 2019 with the threatened closure of 97.3 Apple Fm, saved by an 11th hour decision to form a new board. In September, it was announced that Chris would be taking a sabatical from Friday Drivetime to become a dad, with Friday Anthems from the start of September starting to introduce more throwbacks from the previous years, more and more each week, with the “Future Breaker” feature last broadcasting on 13th September. The final hour long 5-6pm Friday Anthems was broadcast on 27th September 2019, with Chris playing some of the biggest Friday Anthems from the last 2 years. During this though, Chris teased the fact that it may not be quite the end by stating “this is the final Friday Anthems....or is it”? Later on in the hour it was announced that Friday Anthems would be returning before the end of 2019 in a “new sound to Friday Nights on Apple FM” but no further details were being given at the time.
