The plant on the right belonged to my Dad, who would have been 79 today (he died in 2019 aged 74). His plant tends to grow new leaves in the summer; however, last year, a new one appeared in October - the week of our wedding. A lovely gift!

Recent moments of gratitude: winter sunshine on the walls of our apartment; morning birdsong; porridge topped with fruit, nuts and seeds; woodland walks; video chats with faraway friends; road trips to Cheltenham and Leamington Spa; a pile of library books; chocolate digestive tea by Bird & Blend; my warm and cosy hat, scarf and mittens. ☕️ 💭

I asked my mum why she sent over 100 Christmas cards. ‘So that people know I’m still alive,’ she dryly exclaimed. So, this is me, popping in to tell you that, despite my social media absence last year, ‘I’m still alive.’

2023, for me, was a year of romance and books. I read 52 books, and in the autumn, I married my partner and best friend of 12 years. I haven't made many plans for 2024. I will, however, be celebrating my 50th birthday in the summer. It feels like an exciting milestone. I’m very grateful to make it this far.

I wish you a happy and healthy 2024. May the winter season and new year bring you an abundance of all the things you love. 🤍

Despite embarking on a journey towards a simpler life many years ago, the pandemic has made me re-evaluate everything I own and consume. I've put aside things I plan to donate and sell, and I've made simple, sustainable changes to the way I live and work.

Whenever I remove something from my home, routine or schedule, I feel lighter. It helps me focus on the people, activities and things that bring me joy, and I love the calming feeling of space. Has anyone else found this experience has initiated change?
