It is currently Autism Awareness Week! If you want to become more informed, grab a copy of James Wand's 'Autism and ADHD - A Father's Perspective', which has just been published today!

Follow James on his journey as a father, along with his wonderful wife Emily, as they fight for the future of their neurodiverse children. From the early years of parenthood to the present day, we see their perspectives change as they take on new roles as parent/carers.

It's a journey that impacts their children, themselves, and the people immediately around them, as they advocate in ways they didn't know were possible. From a challenging diagnosis, battles with the education system and school avoidance, through to struggling with a father's own mental health, we learn how as parents, and as a family, they start to process the past events, accept their different paths in life and begin to find their tribe.

Check out these articles on the book, too!

..and this is from the author himself:
What started as a self-help exercise to help with my own mental health, turned into a daily task to write a book to help others who have been or are going through similar journeys to us. The writing bit was the easy part, but turning it into a book was a daunting task. That's where Grosvenor House Publishing and the excellent Melanie Bartle came in. Thanks to their professional and efficient work, I now have such a professional book that I'm so proud of and is beyond what I expected to achieve. I truly hope it goes on to help many others.

We just want to say BIG LOVE AND RESPECT for James and his author era! It was a pleasure to work with you and wishing you all the best on your author journey ☺️

08/01/2024

It is with a very heavy heart that we share with you the devastating news of our dearly loved friend and colleague, Becky, who sadly lost her brave battle with cancer at the end of 2023. We have tried to reach out to as many of those close to her through the GHP network as possible, and we have been extremely moved by all the heartfelt messages that have flooded in for her so far. But of course, she had touched so many lives during her time here that we felt we needed to create this post in her honour. Please feel free to add any further messages in the comments below.

BECKY BANNING
Becky, aka ‘Banning’, aka ‘BB’ was our amazingly hard-working assistant manager who, from day one, made her mark in the role with such passion, energy, and grit. She was quite a force. Immensely sharp and intelligent, her no-nonsense approach to the high volume of projects and the admin duties involved, quickly led her to be crowned the GHP Process Queen. Her love of books shone through in her work, and she quite clearly belonged here in the publishing industry, following on from her earlier career where she worked with her first and foremost love, her animals.

She was also a supportive mentor, both in and out of work, and no matter how busy she was, she always had time to help others, offering smart advice on work-related or personal circumstances - or simply for a natter. Becky knew the answers to everything. She was our chief problem-solver, our oracle, and our utmost ‘go-to’ person. Her undeniable wit, charm and of course, sarcasm, are already greatly missed and we are reminded of her absence daily. She has left a huge hole in our hearts and our business, and it’s hard to believe she’s no longer at the other end of that phone line.

This past month has been a crushing blow to all of us here at the company she loved working for and thrived in. We will endeavour to continue the relationships she built with her many returning authors, all of whom she held in such high regard, and vice-versa.

Of course, Becky wasn’t just a colleague to us, she was a dear friend who we all thought incredibly highly of and genuinely cared for, especially through her health challenges during recent years. Despite her living the farthest afield of the team in Wales, we always looked forward to her visiting her family in Kent, so we could arrange a social get together. Usually, a nice lunch in the sunshine by the sea, washed down with a few vinos and always with her beloved dog, Rio, in tow. He was part of our GHP crew too and often joined us on team Zoom meetings. We loved hearing of Becky’s latest addition to her gang of rescue pets as she never failed to turn any suffering or neglected animal away. Heart of gold and a true inspiration in many ways.

Rest In Peace, dear Becky. You will always remain in our thoughts and our hearts, and your legacy will continue to live on through us here.

Your GHP family xx

It’s been a busy few months here at GHP HQ as we've been focused on getting all our Christmas publications over the finish line – and breeeeathe! 🧘‍♀️ While we're having a breath, let's get to celebrating some of our authors’ successes. If you are struggling for ideas on how to push your own book, particularly if it’s a children’s book, take some inspiration right here…

Melanie’s lovely author, Maria Symeou, has been hard at work promoting her Charlotte Learning Collection as she recently published her third book with us in 18 months (!!)
Maria has created a series of children’s stories themed around doing good and learning valuable life lessons. They are all centered on the relatable main character, Charlotte, and how she learns to deal with various emotions such as forgiveness, sharing, peer pressure, bullying, bereavement and more. This is just the start of her learning journey!
All the books are lovingly illustrated by Joseph Craveiro.

Maria held a wonderful gathering at her local library to launch the collection, which involved book signing, a book reading and lots of craft activities for children to take part in. She even managed to attract the interest of local Councillor Anyanwu of Enfield, who attended with her children; she even gave a speech supporting the Charlotte Learning Collection and asked parents and caregivers to 'spread the word'! She also put her in touch with the Executive Director of Schools in Enfield. So, it definitely pays to get involved with your local community! This has really spurred Maria on and she is now hoping to turn these books into an animated series – good luck Maria!🤞

Feedback from the author:

With the help and guidance of Grosvenor House Publishing, The Charlotte Learning Collection is well underway - a third book added to the collection on 14th November 2023. Melanie, a special thanks for all your patience, support and encouragement. We did it!

'I couldn't put the book down. A story of courage, determination and pluck. Very moving.' - Janet Mutton

We would like to celebrate 92-year old author Wendy Billington and her memoir My Journey: Pre-war to post-Covid.

About the Author:
Wendy Billington, the daughter of a journalist, had a longing to follow in her father's footsteps. That wasn't to be! She is a people- centred and determined woman. During the seven decades of her working life, she has found her fulfilment instead in three separate careers: teaching which included eight years in both Occupied Germany and Fontainebleau shortly after WW2, travel business management and pastoral work. Now in her early nineties she has written and published over the last 12 years three other books the last of which was in 2019 shortly before the Covid epidemic. It is appropriately titled 'Retired and Inspired'. As she lives in the 'here and now' it is unlikely she will ever consider retirement!

Wendy held her book launch recently at Sevenoakes bookstore!

Check out this delicious new book by Sue L Clarke! Here at GHP, we believe no book launch is complete without CAKE 🍰 - And it is pure genius when someone makes a cake out of their book. Sue's final book in her trilogy 'Six Keys' is now available on online book stores such as Amazon and Waterstones worldwide!

Already 5 stars on Amazon⭐ Well done, Sue!

About the book:
Working against the clock - can our dysfunctional team put aside their differences to defeat a global cyber threat?

Just when life seemed to be bobbing along quite nicely, Helena receives a phone call that will change everything. Barry, a team member with questionable intentions, has died unexpectedly and in his will leaves the Watcher Team six safety deposit keys. The medical report seemed straight forward enough, it wasn't the cause of death that was the problem, it was the timing.

An intriguing adventure awaits the team in the bustling metropolis that is Manchester, as they embark on a quest to solve six clues hidden in six iconic locations. Guided by their expertise and with the support of MI5 and the CIA, the team navigates a treacherous path, from the revered halls of John Rylands Library to the vibrant theatres of Manchester. Their adversaries, Crytex, pursue them relentlessly. The Watcher Team must outsmart and outmanoeuvre this dangerous organisation.

In a battle of wits and courage, they must confront their fears and tap into their inner strength to save not only themselves but also the world from impending catastrophe.

Can the Team complete its mission and put an end to Watcher 22 once and for all?

Amazon reviewer:
"Having read Sue’s two previous novels in the ‘Watcher 22’ series, the third book did not disappoint at all. The characters in the book are all very different to each other from hilarious to terrifying! A well written and crafted story which also takes you around places of interest in Manchester. I look forward to hearing more from Sue Clarke."

We all love hedgehogs here at GHP... but did you know just how endangered they are? Bees🐝 too! Cue the latest release from our hedgehog and bee loving author, Peter Benefer, who is on a mission to spread the word to the next generation and enrol their help! 🦔

A beautifully illustrated story about a day in the life of a hedgehog and bee and the troubles they are experiencing. It illustrates ecological pressures that hedgehogs and bees are facing and what people can do to help them.

Peter Benefer, born in Manchester and presently living in Leeds, is a beekeeper of some eleven years and counting. Peter loves bees and hedgehogs and the natural world generally. He has been involved in several physical challenge-related fundraising campaigns for hedgehog rescue centres in the past but recognises that he needs to do more as so many rescue centres are underfunded - which was the inspiration for this book. All profits will be going to HERBY (in Bingley) and other rescue centres listed on www.yorkshirehedgehogs.co.uk It’s also worth checking out Peter’s website: www.thehedgehogandthebee.com

And some lovely feedback from the author: Melanie was really friendly and helpful - she made a process that could be tricky a lot more user friendly. I will use again for sure!
Thank you Peter! It’s been awesome working with you on your book and I hope it does well for this special cause. Lexie and I will pay you and your bees a visit next time we are in Leeds visiting family 😊 All the best, Melanie and all at GHP.

Available for purchase here and other online bookstores: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hedgehog-Bee-Peter-Benefer/dp/1803815957/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2UXEWSCHOQJ1A&keywords=hedgehog+and+the+bee&qid=1697122634&sprefix=hedgehog+and+the+bee%2Caps%2C175&sr=8-2

Thank you to GHP author Steve Aspin for this fantastic testimonial!

I would unconditionally recommend Grosvenor House Publishing to any new author who might feel intimidated by the publication process. GHP makes it all easy.

From my initial phone call with Dean Zaltsman, the highly capable and professional Becky Banning managed the whole process efficiently and knowledgeably. The author retains decision-making control over every aspect of the finished product including format, trim size, choice of font and text size, positioning of illustrations, cover art/design, every aspect of the interior style, and market pricing. Messages are responded to very promptly (sometimes immediately but always after a few hours), advice is always helpful and knowledgeable, and each stage is explained in a simple and jargon-free manner prior to proceeding so the author always understands exactly where they are in the timescale.

My book Out of Time has been produced simultaneously in three formats: a quality clothbound hardcover with dustjacket, a paperback and eBook. The hardcover in particular is a real work of art and I am pleased beyond all expectations with the result.

So if you’re a new author faced with a publication decision, look no further: you’ve come home.

Happy World Book Day to all our authors, past and present!

And a special congratulations to one of our wonderful, loyal authors who launch their latest children’s book with us today!
Melanie, on the GHP team here, has been working with Thomas Moore and his illustrator wife, Rebecca, on this exciting, young children’s adventure series for the last year since they first came to us with their creation. And in that short time, they have produced four fantastic books together. Melanie really enjoys working with the Garden’s Gate team and even her young daughter, Lexie, is an avid fan of The Secret Slide adventures and loves seeing the books being worked on behind the scenes. She is always thrilled when she receives her own special copy through the post from Thomas, Becky and their three children, who just happen to be the main characters in the books!

The Garden of Dreams, The Garden of Sweets and the Garden of Ice and Snow are all available from online book retailers such as Amazon, Book Depository and Waterstones - so grab yourself a copy! And if you’re lucky enough to live in Wells, the beautiful cathedral city of Somerset, you may even see the Garden’s Gate team dressed up, out and about around the town, promoting their latest release – The Garden of Yesterday.

Good luck with this one guys and we cannot wait for the next one in the series!

Hello Dean
I just wanted to say how pleased I have been with my experience of working with GHP from start to finish.

Any queries I had from very first contact with GHP were fully answered and clear information provided throughout the process. My contact and Publishing Administrator, Julie Scott, has always been very prompt in her responses, supportive and helpful so I felt assured I was in good hands. I was pleased with the effort made to ensure that I was happy with the final product, and without any pressure.

My church is pleased with the book - just hope we can sell most of the copies!

Happy Publication Day for last Friday and a very Happy 11th Birthday to Anaya – who may well be our youngest published author to date. Congratulations Anaya! Thank you for sharing the photo with us from your special day at the weekend. You should be so proud of yourself - and that banner is awesome!

Melanie has been working closely with Anaya’s father throughout the whole process and it’s been a real pleasure for her to see this wonderful book of short stories come together and to help them create such a magical cover. We all wish her lots of success with it and look forward to her next literary gem!

A note from the author’s father, Rupesh…

“And this honestly all happened, from her dream to reality, just because of you, Melanie. The way you supported us and worked hard to get this published in time for her birthday was totally incredible, thank you.”

Wishing you all of the best with your book sales. From all of the GHP team

Congratulations on your publication date Geoff Major 🥳
"Hell Hath No Fury" is released today, the much-anticipated follow up to "Deadline", released last year.

They changed her life forever. Did they really think they could get away with it?

Evie Perry was a high-class es**rt whose way of life was abruptly and cruelly shattered by two drunken men. Stella Kendrick's husband committed su***de and left her with a legal battle and a debt of £6m, but he leaves her a message with the names of three men on it. Daniella Maddox is a world-class barrister, assigned to an indefensible case for a corrupt client, but one she must win to save her own life. Unbeknownst to them, fate has woven their lives into a twisted web.

Detective Sergeant Alan Armitage is mystified when he attends the scene of a triple murder, but he is very quickly joined in his hunt for the killer by Detective Sergeant Steve Denton from The Met, and Detective Sergeant Bob Williams from North Yorkshire CID. Along with Detective Constable Rachael Jones, they have to uncover who the murderer is and why they are killing people across the country. Their task is made even more difficult because a criminal known to most simply as The Broker gets closer to banking millions every time his team commits another murder.
