Patients undergoing cancer treatment and their loved ones deserve all the support they need and a sense of hope is very important in the path to recovery. By sharing her story, The Princess of Wales is raising awareness and shining a light on cancer support.

We wish all the best to HRH The Princess of Wales, HRH The King, and everyone who's going through this difficult journey. As The Princess has beautifully said in her previous message: "You are not alone".

We are inspired by Anita Rani’s powerful words and contribution to girls’ education.

Anita Rani is Chancellor of University of Bradford and she is launching the Rani scholarship which will make an incredible difference by providing financial assistance to girls on their journeys into higher education. The scholarship will focus on STEM programmes as women and girls are underrepresented in these fields.

Anita is transforming the lives of students and having a positive impact on the University of Bradford’s community and beyond. Her trailblazing work in TV and radio and her storytelling through bestselling books have been an inspiration to women across the UK and raised the voices of British Asian communities.

Making a Difference: many thanks to Anita Rani for shining a light on the incredible work that the UNHCR does.

UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency, a global organisation dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution.

The organisation works in 137 countries. providing life-saving assistance, including shelter, food, water and medical care for people forced to flee conflict and persecution, many of whom have nobody left to turn to.

It defends refugee's right to reach safety and helps them find a place to call home so they can rebuild their lives. Long term, the UNHCR works with countries to improve and monitor refugee and asylum laws and policies, ensuring human rights are upheld.

The UNHCR's vision is a world where every person forced to flee can build a better future.

Anita Rani has been supporting UNHCR since 2017, and was announced as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in March 2021. She has consistently used her voice to tell refugee stories. She presented a three-part documentary ‘The Refugee Camp: Our Desert Home’, which - produced with help from UNHCR - shone a light on life in Za’atari camp in Jordan. She also co-produced BBC One’s two-part series 'My Family, Partition and Me: India 1947'.

Anita has hosted UNHCR’s Nansen Refugee Award in Geneva, as well as the Women on the Move Awards, celebrating the vital contributions that refugee and migrant women make to their local communities in the UK. Anita also travelled to Kyrgyzstan with UNHCR to meet Nansen Award winner Azizbek Ashurov. She rode on horseback through the mountains, following the path he would have taken during his mission to provide stateless Kyrgyzstanis with documentation and an identity.

"What I would say to entrepreneurs is be kind to yourself and ask for help. When you are starting something new, you can work really hard, but it's so much easier if you just have a little bit of humility and ask for help because people are generally willing to help you." Making a Difference: many thanks to Ade Hassan MBE for championing The Leanne Pero Foundation.

The Leanne Pero Foundation was established in 2019 by award-winning community champion Leanne Pero after her own battle with breast cancer at just 30 years old. The organisation aims to address the gaps in care for POC with cancer.

After her own battle with the disease, Leanne realised that mainstream cancer services were not inclusive enough and did not provide adequate support tailored to the black and ethnic community. Similarly, the community was not engaging with medical services to gather the much-needed data to make the changes.

The Foundation provides safe spaces for people to share their personal experiences and ensures that no one has to feel alone or suffer in silence. Everyone’s voice matters.

Their main aim as an organisation is to raise the awareness of issues that specifically impact and marginalise black and ethnic communities when it comes to cancer care within the UK. They ensure that their activities are impactful, their message is clear, and their work is far reaching. ♥️

Our special thanks to Ade Hassan MBE for inspiring our audiences at our special event in collaboration with Soho House.

Ade’s legacy is a true testament to her commitment to making the world a better place.

In a conversation with our founder Catia Dal Poz , Ade shared her story and gave great insights into the life of an entrepreneur who brought a truly innovative product to the market.

In 2014, Ade founded Nubian Skin, launching the first line of n**e lingerie and hosiery for women of colour. The company’s mission to empower women and inclusive ethos have transformed the fashion industry.

Testament to this are the milestones Nubian Skin has achieved: being featured in multiple major fashion and non-fashion magazines and publications; supplying the wardrobes of major Broadway and West End productions; and being selected to provide the underpinnings for Beyoncé's Formation World Tour.

In 2016, Ade was awarded the Great British Entrepreneur Award for her work launching Nubian Skin, and, in 2017, she was awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace for services to fashion.

In 2022, Nubian Skin launched the UK's first softie breast forms for mastectomy patients of colour in collaboration with the The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust . We love this initiative and we thank Ade, Doctor Natalie Johnson, Sarah Adomah, and the The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity for making a difference to cancer patients’ lives.

Making a Difference:

Thank you to Asma Khan for championing Action Against Hunger as an organisation that is making a difference to people's lives.

Action Against Hunger UK ‘s mission is to build a world where no one dies from hunger. Their life-saving work tackles hunger where it hits and stops it, whenever and wherever people need their help.

More than that, they work to prevent it in the first place by leading research that will create a world free from hunger. Forever.

Life-threatening hunger is predictable, preventable and treatable, so a world without it is possible.

How does Action Against Hunger make a difference? By training parents and healthcare workers to spot the first signs of malnutrition; delivering life-saving care to people who need it, and leading research to drive forward understanding of how to predict, prevent and treat life-threatening hunger.

For more information on how to support this incredible organisation, visit: actionagainthunger.org.uk and follow them on social media.
