Our house in the middle of the prom was rocking last night to the heavy, heavy monster sound of Madness. The ska legends were in town headlining the Big Stage @ 1886 bringing a collection of their most well known songs and that unique energy and craziness which makes them one of the most popular and long lasting bands around.
Performing on the first race day of TT 2022, it would take something special to match the excitement of the day's record breaking Superbike race, but the team at the Big Stage rose to the occasion by booking in a group renowned for their popularity as well as their energy on stage.
With support act DJ Tilly building up the atmosphere, excitement and anticipation, the cheers from the crowd could be heard across the city as the group led by legendary frontman Suggs strode onto stage. And they wasted no time in delighting the crowd with a performace of Our House that buzzed with the same energy. From the opening notes to the end of the encore the audience resplendent in their fez caps and modshoes were literally bouncing to song after song as their idols belted out one well known favourite after another. A special cheer went up as legendary frontman Suggs thanked the crowd and especially the younger people in the audience, proving just how enduring their popularity is.
The Big Stage @ 1886 is a brand new for TT 2022 music venue, with headline acts performing every night throughout the TT fortnight. Details on performances and to book tickets, visit www.1886bars.com
