This afternoon the Chief Minister Alfred Cannan For Ayre & Michael chaired a meeting of the Economic Strategy Board to consider what further action the government can take to support the people and economy of the Isle of Man with escalating cost of living pressures.

The Chief Minister said: "We agreed that our immediate priority had to be to protect our most vulnerable and I expect the Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson to make a further announcement later this week.

"We also agreed that more needed to be done to help others beyond these groups. I will chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday and will then meet all members of Tynwald to consider options for broader support.”

It’s Election Eve and some of you have no doubt set your alarm clocks to get down to the polls early tomorrow. Equally some of you may not have decided on who to vote for yet, which is ok too.
