This afternoon the Chief Minister Alfred Cannan For Ayre & Michael chaired a meeting of the Economic Strategy Board to consider what further action the government can take to support the people and economy of the Isle of Man with escalating cost of living pressures.

The Chief Minister said: "We agreed that our immediate priority had to be to protect our most vulnerable and I expect the Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson to make a further announcement later this week.

"We also agreed that more needed to be done to help others beyond these groups. I will chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday and will then meet all members of Tynwald to consider options for broader support.”

The police have issued an update on the situation at willaston primary school.

Willaston School

The road closure of School Road, Willaston and the Police cordon around Willaston school have now been removed.
The road and pathways are now open to the public.

This is still a live police incident and you may still see a police presence in and around Willaston School.

It was back to school time for the candidates of Douglas Central as the election hustings headed to St Ninian's. See the candidates be tested on their knowledge of horse trams, housing and Afghanistan.
