The nose of the Tapir has evolved to become flexible, like an elephants trunk! It allows them to grasp at leaves and stems, making eating the thick foliage of their rainforest home easier! It also makes them look super cute!

Images from our library can be used in a variety of different ways, some of which can be very creative! We made this animation, created with different individual images from our library, to demonstate how our images can be composited to create something new! Many images in our collection, such as Joel Sartores Photo Ark series and the Meet Your Neighbours project, are easy to cut out and composite, owing to their plain backgrounds.
These images can be utilised in books, childrens magazines, advertisement and videos! We always look forward to seeing the creative projects our clients put together from images licenced from our library.

Did you know a bird can create a sound like this? 🐦️🔊
The Rufous-sided broadbill creates a very unusal sound while dislpaying but how is it made? Feathers make this 'klaxon-like' sound. The feathers flutter and produce sound at frequencies and airspeeds relevant to the broadbill's aerial display.

Do you think this panda cub has mastered the art of climbing? 🐼
Pandas start to gain independence from their mothers at about five months old. In the wild, this is when they would leave their dens for the first time and learn how to walk, climb, and eat solid foods.
I think this cub may need a little more practice...

Rocket Penguins 🐧
In some parts of the Antarctic peninsula sea ice cover has reduced by 60% in the last 30 years. One of the Adélies' main food sources, krill, needs sea ice to breed and feed under, and the loss of ice is thought to be causing a decline in krill in some areas.

Why are glass frogs transparent? 🐸
Glass frogs have evolved to have such translucent skin that their organs, including their heart, can be seen. This adaptation camouflages the frogs, helping them hide from predators and survive another day.

Did you know the origins for the term “Shipshape and Bristol Fashion”? ⚓️🚢
Bristol Harbour, UK sits on the River Avon estuary and has the second highest tidal range in the world, fluctuating more than 30 feet between low and high tide. Ships would run aground as the tide receded and their keels caused them to fall on to their sides. The ships had to be sturdy and goods stowed carefully otherwise chaos ensued. Those that succeeded gained the title “Shipshape and Bristol Fashion.”

Is this responsible tourism? 🐳🌊
Thousands of tourists wait in line every day waiting to join boat tours to see whale sharks. The operation is controversial because whale sharks do not naturally gather here. The sharks are hand-fed, almost guaranteeing a selfie…

The Smartest Insects in the World 🐜🍃
Ants are one of the worlds smartest insects, living in social structures and working together to achieve tasks. Here weaver ants are working together to build a nest. Workers use their mandibles to pull two leaves together before gluing them together with the silk of larva. Eventually, they will create an entire leaf ball they can nest inside.

Pop up puffin 🌸🌱
These handsome little birds, sometimes known as ‘sea parrots,’ are loyal to one another. They mate every year with the same bird and produce one chick, know as a puffling. The little puffling’s favourite meal is sand eel which its parents catch for it by diving and swimming with their wings. Unfortunately, these little birds are listed as Vulnerable on the global IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Perfect Timing 🌕️⛰️
“It was a last-minute decision to hike a mountain in the dolomites near cortina d’ampezzo, with the intention of seeing the full moon rise,” says photographer Lukas Schäfer. “I have wanted to capture the moon rising behind the towers of the ‘croda da lago,’ a very unique mountain range in the dolomites, for quite sometime now. I calculated where this might happen and set up my timelapse camera. The moon began to rise in the perfect place, right in the gap between the towers. Magical!”
