The Z-Inema is capping off its spooky season with Jean Rollin's REQUIEM FOR A VAMPIRE at 8pm tonight. The film is very visual and with sparse dialogue, however it is still in French with German subtitles.
However: Afterwards, they have promised screening a surprise english-language holiday classic. So if you're free and nocturnal, swing by Z-Bar, have a drink and get into the monster spirit.

The documentary CORRIDORS OF POWER shines a light on the history and the work of the institutions of US foreign policy, and examines the deliberation that goes into decisions on whether or not to get involved to potentially prevent a humanitarian atrocity, including intentions and concerns that may not be entirely humanitarian.
For the Berlin premiere on May 22nd at 8pm the film team behind director Dror Moreh will attend the screening at Filmkunst66 . There will also be a talk from a member of the German Foreign Office.

The cutest film about a friendship you're likely to see this year ROBOT DREAMS tells the story of a lonely dog in 1980s New York who builds a mail-order robot. They spend the summer together but something happens which forces them to be friends at a distance for a while. But they can dream. They can always dream.
Told entirely without dialogue ROBOT DREAMS is something for friends of all kinds (aged 8 and up. It gets a little moving. Bring tissues.)

Out now: CHALLENGERS
Luca Guadagnino takes the rivalry between two men over a woman (Zendaya, DUNE), and uses the tennis court as a metaphor.
Our reviewer, Hendrike Bake was uncertain about how serious the film was meant to be taken but with a Guadagnino's eye for striking images and a score by Reznor/Ross (SOUL, Nine Inch Nails), it's bound to be a thrilling experience.

A woman, two men who fight over here, a second-rate tennis game as the simplest possible metaphor for their competition: Luca Guadagnino directs this essentially banal farce, as if it were a matter of life and death, with grand gestures and rousing ...

Out this week: THE ZONE OF INTEREST by Jonathan Glazer
Using a colour palette inspired by the film stock of the period and shooting sections of the film using a fly-on-the-wall-technique, this gripping film takes place in a domestic space where the horrors of the Shoah are out of sight, but never out of mind. As much as the camp commander's wife (Sandra Hüller) may try to shut them out, they always encroach on her idyllic garden.

The film screens with english subtitles at Delphi LUX, Ladenkino, Kino Moviemento, hackesche höfe kino, Kino International, IL KINO Berlin, Passage Kino, Wolf and Filmkunst66 (March 4th only)

With a color palette oriented on the cool German color scale of Agfa/Orwo, Glazer depicts the life of the family of the commandant of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp, Rudolf Höß.

Telling ghost stories at Christmas was a tradition in Victorian England, which the BBC revived for a number of legendary features like THE SIGNALMAN and WHISTLE AND I'LL COME TO YOU.
Which of these the Filmrauschpalast Moabit will show tomorrow at 9pm is - obviously - a mystery but a lovely spooky atmosphere is guaranteed. And as ghosts rarely have small change on them, admission will be free to all.

Diesen Mittwoch, um 21:00, wird es besinnlich beim Sneak Review DVD Abend. 😌 Kommt vorbei! Der Eintritt ist frei!

TJ is the owner of “The Old Oak,“ the last pub in the former mining village in Durham. When he makes his back room available as a meeting room for Syrian refugees, he finds himself in the firing line of the resentful locals.

https://www.cinematic-berlin.com/film/en/dogman_2023_2023
Luc Besson's latest film deals with the story of a young man from a pious family who finds that dogs are far more trustworthy and affectionate than people, and who sets out to become an avenger of the downtrodden and attain his own form of salvation.

Out this week (no pun intended): BLUE JEAN
In Northern England of the late 1980s le***an PE teacher Jean is struggling with the effects of "Section 28", which ostensibly bans the "promotion of homos*xuality" but in effect makes it impossible for Jean and her friends to live open and honestly, as well as provide counselling to her pupils.
But Jean is not the type to roll over and play dead in this gripping drama. Two years later, Thatcher was out (of office) but her "legacy" stayed in effect until 2003.
