Where it brings together the national short film scene in three programs and presents what the film scene in Germany is currently dealing with: Questions of power, of rigid societal systems and the possibility of breaking out of them, of personal development, of resistance and self-discovery beyond the norm. It is refreshingly different because it locates itself beyond othering, stereotypical images, and dominant narratives and practices. Its consciously anti-racist, feminist, queer, intersectional and decolonial films challenge the status quo – with diversity as normality rather than the „other“, with subversively empowering stories and nuanced characters. Here BIPOC neither have to represent „their culture“ nor serve as tokens for the quota, but rather naturally shape the narrative perspective and attitude of the films from the center of the plot.

KUKI - Shorts for Kids 7+
The KUKI 7+ program shows that not everything is as it seems at first. We see film heroes who bravely face their challenges and experience New Year's miracles together. We listen to forest concerts, go on funny space missions with tigers and marvel at industrious little creatures. While we watch a lynx on its nocturnal forays, we quietly say goodbye to our loved ones. At the end of the programme we know: It is always worthwhile to put aside prejudices and to always keep an open mind about the world!

And of course we're part of AG Kurzfilm - Bundesverband Deutscher Kurzfilm #kurzfilmtag / #shortfilmday taking place on exactly that day: the 21st of December. We have five programs running in cinemas all over germany and of course we have prepared something for the younger cinephiles:
KUKI - Shorts for Kids 4+
Whether on the last day of autumn or sometime in spring, on the canal, in the forest or in the living room: in the KUKI programme from the age of 4, curiosity comes first. While a girl scrutinises everything, a boy has to be inventive to put an end to his grandma's slurping. We accompany forest animals in a race, preen with an octopus, paint with snails and learn about the habitat of bees. The films are hilarious, invite you to sing along and guarantee an unforgettable cinema experience - not only for 4-year-olds!

Luckily there is one thing we can look forward to: The short film day of AG Kurzfilm - Bundesverband Deutscher Kurzfilm ! Fittingly, of course, on 21 December, the shortest day of the year, amazing short film programs will be presented in in over 500 events throughout Germany. interfilm is also represented with a total of 5 programmes, the first of which we present to you today:
What do we see when we look at each other? What lies behind the gaze of the other and what expectations do we have of what we think we see? Between bizarre animations and surprising twists, between personal truth and events that turn everything we thought was safe upside down, the films in "Sieh mal eine*r an!" tell of the limits of the recognisable, of volatile truths and of seemingly cemented assumptions that crumble and collapse from one moment to the next.
