🎬🎄Throwback: A Holiday Tech Tale! 🎄 🎬

As we jingle all the way into the festive season, let’s rewind and unwrap a special Scarab Digital throwback – our magical journey with "The Christmas Chronicles 2"!

🎅 Starring the iconic duo Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, this Netflix holiday hit with a journey back in time to 1990 was more than just a cinematic treat; it allowed us to flex our old-school playback muscles with 24 frame playback. 🤶

24 Frame is when we synchronize our playback computers with film cameras so that the nasty rolling bars, usually visible on old-school CRT TVs or computer monitors, are no longer visible to camera.

And though not everyone can handle this old-school tech, we miss the art and specialized craft of syncing actual film camera bodies with the good old Barton Box from back in the day! We are all about getting everything in camera on set as authentically and practically as possible.

💡 Fun Fact: Did you know that in The Christmas Chronicles 2, when everyone was snowed in, the entire airport terminal was a set constructed in the old BC Pavilion from Expo 86.

At Scarab Digital, we’re privileged to have contributed to "Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie," our involvement in this project was an opportunity to be part of a narrative transcending the screen. Michael J. Fox’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and his unyielding spirit have been masterfully captured in this documentary, earning widespread acclaim. The film's recent sweep at the Critics' Choice Documentary Awards, including wins for Best Documentary Feature and Best Director, underscores its impact and significance.

We want to congratulate Anna Kendrick on her directorial debut! Netflix predicts a late 2023 release for the recently acquired "Women of The Hour," which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie is based on the 1970s crimes of Rodney Alcala, better known as the Dating Game Killer. We worked on playback and operating the live feeds for the control room of the game show. We will keep you posted on the exact release date.
