The CMF announced this week that 22 projects will receive a total of $4.3M in production funding through our Diverse Languages Program.

These projects span a range of languages, including Italian, Spanish, Russian, Tagalog, Ukrainian, Serbian, Japanese, and Farsi, and cover a variety of genres including documentaries, dramas, Children and Youth programming and more.

The CMF and the Shaw Rocket Fund have announced the renewal of their joint program for the production of Canadian digital animated series for children and youth.

This five-year partnership has already seen the two organizations invest over $19.3M in 43 projects, which have included Denis and Me, Welcome, Shift and Go!, and Jeremy and Jazzy.

📢 Re:Naissance Opera's IndieFest 2023 kicks off today and runs until November 26 across six venues in Vancouver. Get ready for a journey through immersive opera, augmented reality, Indigenous storytelling, and more! Knowledge Network has announced Stories (Un)told, a new commissioning stream in partnership with Creative BC, for mid-career to senior B.C. producers & directors to create premium limited documentary series.

Funding for this initiative includes $2.25 million from Creative BC, which is a part of the historic $42 million investment made by the Province of B.C. in support of B.C.’s creative sector.

Knowledge Network will develop, commission and broadcast three high impact limited documentary series over three years. “This unique partnership opens up the canvas for BC’s documentary storytellers”, said Michelle van Beusekom, President and CEO of Knowledge Network. “Our license fee will enable producers to leverage bigger budgets and talented directors to work within an exciting and popular documentary format at the level of their ability and imagination.”

The Call for Proposals for the first-round of development is now open.
